It's nice to know that there are others out there. Other than Bob Dylan, I can't think of anyone that has been idolized more by rock critics than Springsteen...and I can't stand his music.

The Eagles sound better with Vince Gill
George Martin was more important to the Beatles than John

Nothing wrong with them but they are overplayed.

Agreed, especially Shook me All Night Long, Back in Black, and Thunderstruck.
I never get tired of Whole Lotta Rosie or Shoot to Thrill. They’ve got some good stuff in the catelog, but like Bon Jovi, Journey, Foreigner, etc their hits get driven into the ground.

Grateful Dead is one of the worst bands to darken a stage with their shadow.
Anyone who hates the Eagles is probably a miserable person.

I don’t think people hate the Eagles so much as they hate how classic rock radio runs certain songs into the ground, especially Hotel California. The Eagles have a lot of good music, but classic rock stations often only play Hotel California, Take It Easy, Fast Lane, Desperado, and maybe Already Gone, and play the first one multiple times a day so you can hear it on both your commutes.
I do have to give Eagle 98.1 some props here, about 2 or 3 years ago they drastically changed their programming mix and started playing a much wider variety of songs, albeit, mostly from the same pool of artists. I’m hearing way more b-sides and deep tracks and a lot less of the played to death staples.

Or old enough to have heard a lot of their songs way too many times.
No matter how much I might love any song, I can hear it enough times to make me feel like I never need to hear it again.

quote:Uh, speaking as an actual bassist, Ben Shepard's bass lines are much more intricate and nuanced than any of Tim's. However Tim is great about finding the right groove and creating signature bass riffs, and is a true master of tone. But as far as individual chops, at least as far as what's displayed in their songs, Ben is much, much, much better than Tim man. Give Jesus Christ Pose a run through and see if that doesn't change your mind.
I'm here, myself, but I think it is about the songs.
Player for player -
Cornell = Cornell
Thayil > Morello
Shepard < Commerford (but this difference is pretty slight)
Cameron = Wilk
So, on paper, Soundgarden ought to be better, overall. The chemistry in Audioslave, especially that first album, was magic and that's probably the difference.

I almost made this a push as well. What I'll concede is that I haven't digested the entire breadth of Soundgarden the way I have Audioslave and, to a lesser degree, RATM. I was a drummer, briefly, a lifetime ago and tend to gravitate to the rhythm section (I listened to Tool for years without paying much attention to Adam or Maynard - just as an example).

I just don't like the song. I never liked it. I'm not going to like it. I'll take your word for it and revise my rankings to a "push" and make Tom "The Noisemaker" Morello really feel like shite.
