I'm telling you guys, the power situation in BR is in dire straits, and I really think the North Texas game on Sept. 13 is in jeopardy too.

quote:

The focus shifts to a Sept. 13 home game against North Texas, but even that may need to be done tentatively.

With crews scattered around the greater Baton Rouge area trying to restore power, there’s no guarantee LSU’s campus will get immediate attention.

“My biggest concern is to make sure the stadium is ready to go next weekend,” Alleva said. “And we’re going to make sure it is, but that’s still a concern. We have to get contractors in here, and obviously contractors are very busy. We have to make sure we get the stadium safe for next weekend.”

Everyone knows how screwed we'd be having to travel to Auburn with only one game under our belts.

Relax and don't panic. We are 9 days away from the game.

If it came down to it they could put generators on site to handle Tiger Stadium.

I'm not going to jump on the hysteria wagon yet, but if there's even a question, then other options like moving to another site should be in place now.

I spoke with someone yesterday about the Troy cancellation, and his first comment was "The North Texas game isn't a definite at this point in time".

Wow. Well, then I guess the question becomes where might the game be played ? No way Miles and LSU sit out two straight weeks after a bizarro scenario in week one and hit the road in an SEC game.

Personally, I think the game will be played in Tiger Stadium. Just throwing it out there, and kept it to myself for obvious reasons until I saw someone else mention the scenario. If they couldn't go in Tiger Stadium for some reason, they would need to have a backup plan to get this game played next weekend.

I don't understand this statement...they just need to hook up power to the LSU substation to take care of all that.
(EDIT: And if they don't do that, there will be no classes next week, which I doubt.)

Do they perhaps mean the LSU region?

(which also doesn't make sense because a lot of the neighboring areas already have power back.)

If this is the case, then they must find a way to play the game. Move it too the Superdome and only allow season ticket holders to attend. That would solve the numbers problem between 92,000 in TS and 68,000 in the dome. For everyone else offer it free or at a highly reduced price on tiger vision.

Your life must really be empty if your biggest concern is whether or not LSU plays another game before going to Auburn

Tulane has a home game that day. But, the question is, does Tulane really need to play their game?

Although it's not my biggest concern in life, I would definitely like to see LSU play a couple of more games before traveling to Auburn.

we could play our game before/after theirs. Should only take 20 minutes to clear Tulane game crowd.

Tulane could play during LSU's halftime. Do they really need to play a full 60 minutes?

You guys are right. I think they ought to postpone the entire LSU Football season indefinitely until every square inch of Ascension and Jefferson parish is in pristine working condition. Until Cocodrie is fully functional, we should probably all not want to see football games. I personally am not going to watch a single sporting event until I know everyone in Gonzales has electricity, a hot shower, and meal each evening. God bless everyone.
