“Now, say goodbye you lying piece of shite because I’m letting him go.”

He always looked 10-15 years younger than his actual age.

I went to HS with his son. Charles Grodin did a video for our graduation that was pretty funny

Beethoven. GOAT family movie.

Grodin had a political talk show on either CNBC or msnbc in the mid 90s, IIRC.

I remember him mostly from the 1976 King Kong. Some key things about the movie:
1. Jessica Lange was smokin' hot in the mid '70s.
2. The movie probably features the Twin Towers more prominently than any other movie.
3. The beach landing was filmed at Honopu Beach on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Amazing beach.
4. The score is great.

Only man who ever had a real shot at stealing Miss Piggy away from Kermit.

Damn. Thought he was 10-15 years younger.

The dude's still in bed with Dyan Cannon, from Heaven Can Wait!

CNBC. Back in the early years when they did more casual talk shows, like the Tom Snyder show.
Letterman appearances are what I'll always think of when I see Grodin's name.

*A WASP character in both the novel and the script, yet Mike Nichols insisted on Jewifying the role (as he had done with the younger man in Virginia Woolf, casting George Segal). Also considered for The Graduate was Peter Kastner (You're A Big Boy Now) who liked to tell the story: "I auditioned for The Graduate, but Mike Nichols felt I was too Jewish. So he cast..." (long pause) "Dustin Hoffman".

And he was a stone cold f*cking IDIOT.

the original Heartbreak Kid,
Severely underrated film.
Great scene where Grodin foreshadows his "Alonzo Mosley FBI Litmus Configuration" character. He confronts some college boys who are hitting on the girl he's trying to seduce.

Seems Like Old Times is an absolute treasure of a movie

I want to find it now after rewatching some of the Letterman and Carson appearances. Both of them kept referencing the Heartbreak Kid many years after it was released.

My kids rented "Clifford" on a lark and it had some laugh out loud moments.

His hilarious performance in Last Resort seems widely overlooked as well.
