She is suing the family of the helicopter pilot, because of what? She needs more money? She doesn't have enough and wants to bankrupt the pilot's family?

I'm sure they probably offered a 5-10 year deal to keep that going. The idea that Kobe's shoes will be like Jordans and warrant a lifetime (whose lifetime?) contract is silly. Nike was smart not to commit to that.
