Buddy with a small engine repair shop told me the same thing. He’s 3 months behind because all his help has “done went to the house.”

Not sure where you’re located but it’s the same thing in my neck of the woods. Damn near every restaurant (fast food and standard) have a help wanted sign

Even auto suppliers, that typically pay line workers double minimum wage and up, are having a hard time retaining labor due to the same thing

Sounds like they’re not paying a living wage.

I figure if there were ever a time when folks could have the opportunity to weasel their way into jobs that they may have previously not been qualified for, it's right now. Not that there's tons of sudden upward mobility and pay involved, but definite jumping ahead a few notches without the previous requirement of "earning" it. Lots of opportunity that's not being seized upon.

ETA...."weasel their way into" may not be the best verbiage there on my part. Perhaps "have the good fortune" is a better description of the situation.

As a business owner it is very frustrating trying to compete with the Govt. We just can't find workers very often. Business associates that have much higher paying jobs to offer have the same problems as well. Sad what they have done to small business.

We can't open every day due to no help. A ton of businesses in my area in the same boat. Not to mention wages going through the roof. Taking a price increase next month.

Last weekend we tried to hit up a local place and were told it would be 1 1/2 hours due to kitchen staff shortage.

It seems to also be driving wages up. McDonald's has a sign up saying that they're paying up to $17.50 an hr here.

I'm in the opposite situation. Been lucky enough to have worked all the way through this, but I've been getting a "the check is in the mail" from the IRS on the last stimulus for almost a month now.

How long do these people expect a measly $1,400 to last? This whole situation has made me understand why a lot of people stay in poverty.

I DD on the side here in north Texas and I have mgrs constantly asking me if I know of anyone looking for a job,

Here’s a crazy story for you and I’ve heard they have really good benefits, recently I spoke with a Mgr at a Chick Fil la and was asking when they planned on opening up the inside and he said they wanna try to open it up next month but they don’t have enough employees to run the inside. This is insane.

We're getting hammered on the Gulf Coast with tourism ramping up. Every restaurant from Pcola to Gulf Shores has help wanted signs up.

Most places have limited seating and 2 hr. waits.

Hell, even Flora-Bama is offering a $500 bonus to find employees.

And yet people wonder why business hire Mexicans over Americans when and where they can.

It’s just not low wage earners either. I know someone who was making 75K per year. They got fired but boss didn’t fight unemployment. This person is riding the govt paycheck train.

It's not just low paying jobs that have a shortage. A local plumbing company is offering a $3k sign on bonus for experienced plumbers, RN's are getting $10K sign on bonuses. HVAC techs are in high demand right now as well.

it's true

i've already stated that i know 2 companies right now, who have been offering over market for position(16$+), and one of them offers 10+ weeks off with pay and less than 40 hours worked(salary), and not a f'ing bite.

Nothing, i didn't believe them, and went to the sites they are hosted at(ziprecruiter), and no one has applied in 6 months, and the people ziprecruiter offer up are terrible.
