Pretty much every high school association, as well as the NCAA, required a physical and medical clearance to participate.

Physical are common for any level of sports I have ever competed in from high school to college. These would be perfumed by the school.
I can't remember for non school sports, but I believe for local non school teams I needed a physical from a doctor.

Everyone, including the small government conservative, who chooses to participate in a state public school system sponsored athletic sports league has to take the required physical. It’s the rules of the league you’re choosing to play in. Everyone knows this as soon they attend the first meeting of people who want to play. I had to do it every year from 7th to 12th grade.

It’s a requirement for playing any sport, you fricking nerd. And us small government conservatives who played sports had the option, take a physical in order to play a sport, or sit out. This was for private school as well as public.

I am your 200th downvote. This article is pure clickbait material and ignores the fact that this is quite clearly an ordinary physical carried out by a medical professional. In order to play high school or collegiate sports, you absolutely have to have a physical done to prove you are healthy enough to compete. I had to have a physical done to play football and to run track. Part of that physical involved the doctor checking my private parts for testicular cancer.

on a sidenote, when I was coaching we had a parent that was a cardiologist. we were doing team physicals and the parent volunteered to provide EKGs with the physical. so all of the players got EKGs and we actually caught a kid with an irregular heartbeat and he got diagnosed with a condition that may have saved his life.
preseason physicals performed by a doctor are part of youth sports from aged 12 and on

also side note: our home phone back when rang off the hook: of parents C/O Johnny being on the bench and Brett wants to be the quarterback...
it is a mother freaking thankless shitty job. on the coach and his WIFE. because I had to screen the calls.
