Not to harp but I wouldn’t say Campbell has ever showed great consistency though this year I would put her worst after her freshman year, which you just can’t have from your anchor and expect to make it all the way.
As for desiderio, she has gotten better over the years but has a terrible track record in post season (see, eg semifinals in 2019). I applaud deans improvement and do love the consistency that Sami gave us on bars.

My God I just realized it did come down to that tenth. Sami’s first fall in her career and that happened. I’m not blaming her, because beam.. duh but still
Us making it or not tonight may or may not have entirely come down to Sami on bars. Who’s to say that they would’ve gone above a 9.9 for her routine if she hit her normal set, especially given what our highest score up to that point already was. Honestly don’t think they would’ve gone higher than a 9.925 for her if she hit. And even if that had, we still only basically had 3 solidly hit beam routines. Yes sami’s score got dropped and could’ve been counted towards the team score, we still needed to hit beam at the end of the day, and we didn’t

Which is why I just said it was beam. It came down to beam just like I knew it would. I knew we would lose it on beam as we have all year long.
So who is in that beam lineup next year, and is it too much to ask for them to consistent?
My best guess: Kiya (fix her routine ASAP though), Haleigh, Dunne, Finnegan, Alyona (more fixing), and ? Elena’s form is seriously flawed so unless that improves, that routine isn’t it going to cut it. There are just too many great teams right now.

Dunne NEEDS to be in there and Kai as well if she is healthy. We really need her to be healthy next year.
I wonder who will be the lead off?

The locks: Kiya, Haleigh, Dunne, Finnegan
I like Alyona but she has to work on her consistency. Elena's has to many small form things for me to want to put her in the lineup
Don't sleep on Sierra Ballard (beam was her best event as JO), but the switch half needs to go. If that is still in her routine, the coaches are failing at their jobs.
I wouldn't sleep on Tatum either. Kids will need to step up but LSU will have to coach/develop better on that event.

Would Kai be a good bars lead off or arenas?

I would be fine with Kai as a lead off. Have her do the same routine as Kiya. Simple but clean. She seemed to have most her issues around her release last year.
Aleah and Tatum are really going to push some of the returning kids on bars. I feel solid about our bars next year actually.
Beam is the biggest question mark and the event that needs the most work.

I need to go look at Tatum’s scores this year. I was so excited when she committed.
I remember I really liked what I saw of Ryan’s beam routine when I watched it either this year or last year in intrasquads. I imagine she could possibly have some confidence and consistency problems though just judging off her vaults.
I really enjoy Alyona’s beam when she is on but unfortunately she always has some checks or adjustments. They need to water that routine down for sure. Maybe that would help.
Most people seem fairly confident Sami returns, so she would be a lock as well even though she was the most inconsistent in the lineup.
Can Jay coach beam at all? Could they find a volunteer coach to help with mental toughness?

I just watched our beam rotation on the app. I want to backtrack somewhat on my comments about the seniors. The one girl who has improved year after year and gotten more consistent is Bridget Dean. And kudos to her for coming through so many times in clutch situations. She was more steady this year, many times following falls or low scores on beam, than she was in previous years in less stressful circumstances. She just kind of quietly did her job, no big fanfare or hype, a beautiful girl who played a big role in getting us as far as we got. She’s one I will miss.

What a disappointment for the girls.

Another blown opportunity, up 0.3 in the last rotation is like being up 5 in the last inning or 10 in football with 2 minutes left and blowing it.
Jay Clark needs to make an adjustment as losing leads late is now the norm. They lost a match earlier when on flow we landed out of the ring. His girls might be technically sound, but are not mentally tough enough to close in pressure situations.
Jay: Make an adjustment!

Look I know LSU blew it but how can the ncaa have. Legit championship when higher scores came out of one bracket than another team that advanced

I would be shocked!! They have so much more going on in there life I wouldn’t see them coming back .

The NCAA needs to revisit the top 2 from each session advancing. I realize they were trying to mimic the Super Six format, with top 3 from each session advancing, but what about winner from each session, plus next two highest scores.
I’m watching again and already see small deductions we gave up on floor alone.

Greg Marsden had a little rant on Twitter yesterday. Wants it to be 5 up 5 count. Mark Williams also agrees. I’d rather have 6 up 6 count, which would give more gymnasts a chance to compete. I know if this was the case, LSU would not have made it out of Regionals. But I also don’t like seeing all these falls. You should be at your absolute best near the end of the season.
Also, who all is watching the Finals today? I don’t really want to because LSU is no longer in it, and I know OU is gonna get some crazy scores and win.

This is not the case.... at all. If they were going to Bars, Vault, or Floor, sure..... but with scores flying, it was never super secure.

Good for Michigan! Great semi yesterday and lead wire to wire today. Well deserved.

LSU had some cushion going into the last rotation. All they had to do was be mediocre to advance and we were much worse than mediocre. Cant count two routines in the 9.7's, especially from 2 seniors.
Even if we got to today, we didn't have the team to keep up with Michigan or OU. They are on another level.

Yep, but I disagree that it was like being up 5 runs in the 9th inning, especially considering beam scoring was TIGHT yesterday. Next year will be something because all of the top teams reload.
It was quite refreshing to see Florida once again blow it, but they will be LOADED next year.
