I hope they don’t expand his role; he was getting the ball every other play by the end of the year.

I look for Peetz to get creative with how they get boutte the ball much like the Panthers did with McCaffrey while he was there.

Agree. By mid season, I think one of the freshmen will have asserted himself.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all, but My money is on Jaray Jenkins.

I think Jenkins will be a big target next year. He made big plays for LSU last year and seems to get really open on his routes. He also flashed some really good field speed after his catches.

I'd expect to see Jenkins be our #2 also. Really hoping Palmer has made strides. He has the speed to do some serious damage after the catch and stretch the defense.

How much more expanded can you get from what he was doing at the end of last season?

He says he only played X last year but will be X, Y, and backfield in ‘21. Sounds like they want to use him like Chase was used in ‘19.

Catching the football is the problem, not getting open. The same goes for Moore and every other receiver that is returning other than Boutte. Hopefully, there will be improvement there this coming season.

Case-in-point:
Jenkins as a sophomore had 23 receptions for 397 yards and 2 TDs
Marshall as a sophomore had 46 receptions for 671 yards and 13 TDs (and he was 3rd behind Jefferson and Chase)

Finding a really good #2 and #3 receiver has to be the primary goal in the off-season.

Moving Boutte around could be an indicator there is a huge gap between Boutte and every other receiver this Spring and that is not ideal.

Good point. I hope this is not the case and we find a secure WR #2

I expect Jenkins to have a good role this year but to be honest we should hope there’s someone else that steps up to be the #2 guy because that means LSU is playing well on offense. Jaray is a great reliable option you like to have but he doesn’t match up talent wise with some of these younger kids. Deion Smith has all the talent in the world to start as freshman but the question will be if he’s fully healthy and back from his injury. I think at the end of the year Koy Moore will end up being the guy with the 2nd most production at WR with Jaray 3rd followed by Deion Smith and then Trey Palmer.

Are they?

I wouldn't say loaded.

I think lsu is going to need some of the freshmen to step up to be elite at wideout.

Boutte-elite.

Who else is elite?
Koy moore is a decent slot but did nothing after the catch.
Palmer will be fighting koy for playing time.

Kirklin is a decent upperclassman.
I like jaray jenkins a bunch and think he will probably be the #2

I really like adams but think he will take a little while.
Devonta lee will get a chance.
Deion smith is going to be good
