Cancel Umbrella Academy and go balls deep on this instead.

I mean, I know why you are saying it, but basically VANYLBTQLFMNOPQRYZ's storyline is basically... pointless in season 2, and if I had to guess, will remain that way considering where season 2 ended, so I'm ok with it because Umbrella Academy season 2 was really good television

This will be like Brightburn for those that haven't read the story.

My wife and I are through episode 6. It's Dark and gritty. Not campy like "The Boyz".
Without giving anything away I guess the best way I describe what's going on would be like listening to Billy Joel's song "We Didn't Start The Fire"..

I just finished it. I liked the flashback parts of it alot. The present days stuff was meh.

I was just thinking the other day how we needed another comic superhero series.

The Boys is absolutely campy. Yes it’s MA but it never takes itself or it’s subject matter too seriously even though serious shite happens.
So how derivative are the characters of mainstream heroes we all know? The Boys rips offs the big names we know, but that’s the point. The Incredibles shamelessly ripped off a lot of Marvel characters prior to the purchase. The Umbrella Academy went original but their powers and characters are basically unbaked potatoes.

That’s not the point I was making. It’s the point this clear riff on DC Demigod-hood with a mix of Greek Mythology somehow isn’t campy.
Not that I take your definition of campy seriously. Campy is Adam West Batman with no real consequences and low stakes “fights” and controversy.

Campy changes through the decades. Guardians of the Galaxy is campy. Family Matters was campy in its day.

the traditional comic book stuff was fun
but the legend, the dead dad, boat trip, mysterious island was dull and took WAY TOO much time
and its more like Watchmen (the movie) than anything else mentioned

They made too many changes from the original comics. THis is suppose to be about the kids of superheroes doing fricked up shite and not living up to their parents example and then they kill said parents.
Aka Jupiter Legacy I.E what Zeus did to his father and the Titans.
But they decided to try and make this Watchmen without Zack Synder amazing visuals. Their effects are Sky high Level at best, even the Boyz had better visuals.
Then there the Twitter mob and critics angry that there is no representation for LBGTQRSTUV+/2 and the PoC of all spectrum.

7 minutes into the first episode and I don’t see how this isn’t camp. Campy dialogue. Some campy costumes. And some campy visuals.
I hope this isn’t Snyder Watchmen lite.
Discount Timothy Olyphant may be the best part of this so far.

Always wondered where the title came from. That makes sense. Thanks!

I'm 4 episodes in and there really is not too much to get excited about.
Poor story line (flashbacks are the better storyline), strange/bad camera work, bad makeup/costumes, and poor writing in parts (the reference to what Nazis call themselves today was particularly bad).
The Boys and Invincible are much better based on what I've seen so far. But I'll finish it out and see if it improves.
