A state appeals court has rejected a joint request from prosecutors and defense attorneys for a man convicted of killing a police officer to hold a hearing on his jury selection process, but the request drew criticism from the New Orleans Police Department. The request sought a hearing on whether prosecutors discriminated against Black people when they picked jurors for the trial of Travis Boys, who shot and killed officer Daryle Holloway while being taken to jail in 2015.

Boys' attorneys, Anna VanCleave of Yale Law School along with Emily Washington and Hannah Lommers-Johnson of the MacArthur Justice Center, rest much of their appeal on the assertion that prosecutors improperly weeded out Black prospective jurors. New Orleans is 60% Black, the jury pool was 55% Black and the jury was ultimately only 42% Black, the appellate attorneys say.

The mayor and DA are both clowns and the chief of police is a spineless puppet

Sounds like one attorney did a better job during jury selection than the other one did....

Every time I read stories like this, I can’t help but recall The Wire taught me everything I need to know. Between Rawls, Carcetti, Bonde, Davis, Royce, etc, these major cities and the bureaucrats and politicians who run them are all awful, awful human beings.

Jury unanimously came back in less than a half hour. And defendant didn't contest the fact that he did it, he argued insanity....a defense which is almost impossible when one makes the decision to flee as it meant he knew right from wrong.

The Feds will take care of Jason soon enough just like they did with his buddies. His accountant already pleaded guilty and Jason is awaiting trial. The star witness in the case against Williams already pled guilty as well. The clock is ticking for Jason. Tick tock tick tock.

The Wire was set back in an era when the black political elite still worked with the business class in their city. Now? They don’t give a shite. Look at LaToya or the Mayor in Atlanta. You get your Soros bucks and you don’t need donations from Entergy or Whitney Bank.

Wonder if he’ll go on permanent “vacation”? with a 9mm to the skull. It’ll be “suicide”

I don't try to follow it, but they basically fired everyone who tried a murder and have done nothing but release people.

They actually vacated several sentences of people who pled guilty to offenses "in the interest of justice" with no further explanation. People repped by former defense attorneys now employed by him or who were on his transition team.

At some point, one would think that the media will ask when he intends to prosecute any criminal.

The fact that an indicted attorney won the election barely got attention let alone his agenda.

This is why it’s best not to step foot in Orleans Parish. You’re at the mercy of the criminal class when you’re not at home or in your car.

I’m glad I never lost against that POS Williams in court. Plus I was friends with Holloway and I hope his killer burns in hell for all eternity.
