NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans is easing COVID-19 restrictions for all indoor and outdoor gatherings, but won't be going as far as the rest of Louisiana.

According to a statement from Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office, all indoor gatherings will be limited to 150 people and all outdoor gatherings will be limited to 250 people as of April 2.

Outdoor recreation spaces and sports complexes will be able to host crowds at 50% of their occupancy, while similar indoor spaces can open at 25% of standing capacity.

"Any events taking place in recreation spaces or sports complexes that are not athletic competitions, must obtain a special event permit," the statement read.

Here are New Orleans current COVID-19 restrictions:

Businesses are allowed to open at 75% capacity

Singing and wind-blown instruments will now be allowed indoors, however the establishment must follow all guidelines set forth by the City and State.
Alcoholic Beverages
Restaurants and bars: Restaurants, bars, breweries, and event venues can serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption and to-go between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Packaged liquor: Packaged liquor sales in the French Quarter and CBD is limited to the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Thank you kween!

I played trumpet through high school and I'm fairly sure you can't blow out a birthday candle if you were to walk up to one playing a trumpet. That's kinda' the whole point of all the tubes and whatnot...to slow down and turn the breath into sound. Are they under the impression sound waves carry cooties?

What are the state bar/restaurant hours now? Are there any specific restrictions remaining there?

It blows my mind that she actually has supporters.

But then again, when you don’t work or have a business, why would the restriction bother you?

This infuriates me more than anything. Of all of the idiotic restrictions, this one takes the cake - especially given that the rest of the state lifted the 11 p.m. last call.

I caught part of her press conference yesterday. She said she’d review the data and based on science adjust the restrictions. I want to see what Scientific guidelines that retard is reading. I don’t think she can make sense of a fortune cookie much less a scientific journal.

There's a weird belief in Liberal circles.

That restricting more and more shite makes people "safer".

It's viewed as "doing a good job".

Yes, liberals are retarded.

I love that Kermit ruffins is bitching about all of Claiborne being shut down under the interstate but bourbon is open. Can't wait for her to be re-elected by her staunch constituents. Good for them. She won't be bullied!
