All of those options will require MASSIVE improvements to Hwy 1 and Hwy 30 to accommodate the project. Lord help us all. We're in for a clusterfrick.

Have you seen the bridge at 5 PM? We're ALREADY in a clusterfrick.

How, on God's green Earth, with all the work they have already done on it, is a Bluebonnet area bridge not an option?
Burbank, Siegen, Bluebonnet, I10 all already built up in the SBR area. Expand a little bit of river road to the north as a feeder and dump the bridge out on La1 north of Dow.
How is Dow not pushing for this? It would put a major dent in their truck deliveries/shipments as well.

ETA: l'auberge would love it as well, as the feeder road would run right by it.

This bridge has been at least 4 years from groundbreaking since about 1988.

They eventually want to link it to I-10 with an expressway on both sides of the river. And there's no place to put one around Bluebonnet.

I guarantee you no one doing this study has even considered what happens when the usual slow moving trains are rolling on the tracks next to Hwy 30. Every one of these plans call for an intersection at hwy 30 and building an overpass at the tracks to intersect with hwy 30 would be a disaster.

Do they still have their own security cop letting traffic out that backs up in U Club in the morning?

Yep. Mfer just sits in the middle of hwy 30 with his blinding blue lights on doing jack shite. It will get someone killed one day. Just a matter of time.

Why can't Hwy 30 be widened all the way to Gonzales? It would cross the Bluebonnet extension and go into LSU. We elect the dumbest and most corrupt don't we folks?

I'm sure it will.

I doubt this thing crosses anywhere north of Dow because there's nowhere to build a connecting highway to I-10 on the Baton Rouge side without tearing down a large portion of the city.

Which is EXACTLY what hwy 30 should be. Funnel local traffic to Bluebonnet, which has has extensive work done recently, and the rest South to hwy 30, REDUCING the overall traffic burden on EBR.

Some proposals provided free of charge by various OT'rs in the last thread (option 4 crossing at Plaquemine was the consensus favorite):

Easy fix for this....widen them.

The hard part is building out a new bridge over the river that can handle Panamax ships underneath. Turning Nicholson into a 4 or 6 lane divided road is nothing by comparison.

This will be done about the same time the “future I-49 corridor” from Lafayette to Nola is completed.

Looks like that new bridge could be done by 2050.

Not sure if serious.
