Just finished series, Thanks Outdoor Board for the recommendation.

After finishing all the episodes... which meal would be your go to if JP & the boys showed up ready to cook it?

I'm gonna vote for the Steak and Egg over the fire.

I’ve never seen this series but I always loved going to deer camp with my dad as a kid because I preferred the way he cooked breakfast. My mom always cooked at home and was a fantastic cook but she did it healthier.

My dad cooked bacon and sausage and then the scrambled eggs all in the grease. My mom always uses a separate clean pan for eggs. I preferred the grease

An egg fried in a pan full of sausage or bacon grease is manna from the gods. Especially when you fan the grease over the top of the egg and get all the grizzle al over it.

If that’s being wrong, I don’t wanna be right.

duck laorange
I took his recipe and modified it for deer

It was fantastic

Here is mine below

2 lbs deer steak cut in pieces, lightly floured

2lbs bacon, diced

2 cups yellow onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups of mushrooms, quartered

1 cup of orange juice

4 cups of beef stock

2 bay leaves

4 satsumas (seedless mandarins), peeled and left whole

1oz vinegar (apple cider, distilled, white, or red)

2 cups of green onion sliced

Directions:

Brown the bacon, then remove bacon and set aside, but leave grease in pan

Fry the deer meat in bacon grease, then remove

brown mushrooms and onions in grease, keep scraping botton of pan while doing so

Add garlic and cook down

Next, add everything else into the pot (deer, bacon, stock, orange juice, oranges)

Cook down covered for 2 hours or so

Serve over rice or potatoes with the green onions

My grandmother once said something like "if you aren't frying your eggs in bacon grease you might as well just boil them in water."

I tried thier recipe of 12 miller lites and 6 makers by noon. At the time I think it tasted pretty good, but I'm having trouble remembering.
