I'm a geologist and I have some stuff. I like the complex boron-lithium-potassium and sodium fledspar/silica stuff. Tourmalene, Kuntzite, Amazonite etc. I'm not as much into geodes though. That's just quartz or silicon dioxide. And Lepidolite for the mica.

Meteorites can be cool. I was blown away by the meteorites with large embedded olivine crystals I saw displayed in the Smithsonian. That's the gemstone peridot for those who don't know. Look up olivine meteorites.

My wife collects any kind of rock/stone that is heart-shaped.

Does that count?...

I have $20.00?

You, sir, deserve the truth. That $20.00 is long gone. It was likely gone after dinner that day.

My current "money in my pocket" personal value is less than $8.00.

I have a decent collection that was my dad's. I photographed and plan on setting them up in a shadow box type thing for my daughter.

Ok that’s an absolutely gorgeous collection. I’m jealous. Do you have a lot of info on them?

I do. He kept notes on all of the pieces. What it is, where it came from and whether he bought it or dug it up himself. He went to college at Univ of Arizona and mining in old abandoned mines was a hobby of his. A lot of the stuff I have, he found himself.
I have been trying to put a value to it for insurance purposes, but values are all over the place.

ill have to look at what my wife has. since she is Wiccan, we have a ton of crystals of various types. the best one I have is not a rock, but it is sand turned into Glass (name escapes me) from the beach at Dauphin Island after a lightning strike. I also have pumice from Hawaii and volcanic dust from Mt St Helens.

however i have a ton of Geodes. i want to go rock hunting, i just havent found a good place to do so around Alabama

I’d love to see some of the notes. I’m assuming a lot of those red pieces are rubies and garnets?
