I currently have 2 bedrooms with old carpet. My neighbors recently bought a couple of pallets of tile and has a lot left over that he's willing to give me for free. I was thinking about pulling up the carpet in both spare bedrooms and replacing with tile.

We have a dog and it would be much easier to maintain the tile and it would look nicer. That being said My wife is preggo with #1 on the way. we plan on turning those bedrooms into nursery and eventually the kids bedroom. I am slightly concerned about putting tile in the babies room who will probably throw things and be falling a lot around the walking stage? Carpet would probably help out if he trips or prevent some shite he might throw from breaking. I'm sure there are other pros/cons of carpet vs tile I'm not thinking of. Any advice?

Maybe tile but use rugs in babies room. Ruggable has rugs you can take apart and put in washer. I'm anti carpet for the most part due to allergies.

Now that I don't have carpet anymore I think that carpet is nasty. Think about when your pet or infant has an accident on it. I would go with the tile and area rugs.

Not a fan of tile in bedrooms, or anywhere for that matter, but if you get enough that you don’t have to buy more, sure. If you’re spending any on additional materials or labor, LVP and rugs probably equally as cost effective and looks much better IMO.

We are covering the last of this house with tile as soon as the floor guy works us in the schedule.

Without reading the post, I just can never suggest carpet. When you think about it, it's just a filth trap. Tile, wood, vinyl plank... Too many other options that you can just slap an area rung on.

Like already mentioned, far too many better options to use as opposed to carpet.

Yeah, it goes down in an hour or so when the installer knows what he's doing, but dealing with the problems involving carpet is just not worth it for my personal taste.

I've had it in houses I have owned but removed it as soon as I could decide on what to replace it with.

Little kids and pets will flat ruin carpet long before it's intended lifespan.
