Loved watching their mayor say it was a plot by the GOP to disenfranchise 750K people of color.....wonder if that cvnt realizes that out founding fathers made this decisions in 1792 before there were 750K inhabitants of DC and definitely way before POC could vote.

They never saw anyone "living" in DC. Politics was supposed to be a service to the Country and the people. Not a career! They all left office poorer, lived in their home states, and traveled to D.C. to do the business of the Country. D.C. was supposed to be an Federal Autonomous zone not influenced by any States politics. Essentially like the Vatican in Italy.
If D.C. residents are disenfranchised return the land not directly around the Capital and White House to Virginia and Maryland and call them represented.

FWIW, the state would have been called New Columbia. Now I guess it would be Obamaland.
Article I Section VIII Clause 17 of The Constitution of the United States says that Congress may establish a federal district after reaching agreements to purchase land from the state(s). It also gives Congress exclusive governing jurisdiction over it. In my amateur constitutional law opinion it is pretty clear that Congress has the power to move the capital to a new federal district it purchases and builds in which case DC would revert back to Maryland and the residents of DC would revert back to being residents of Maryland like what happened when DC gave up Arlington and it reverted back to Virginia. However, it cannot make DC a state because then it would not have exclusive jurisdiction over the federal district.

I have a better idea... how about we do not allow anyone to claim legal residence in Washington, D.C.? Would that not solve the problem easier and more efficiently?
also, while we are at it, lets disperse the federal government operations to other parts of the country... this would work much better for COOP and COG...
