The rumors of Texas being wide open and normal are greatly exaggerated

Spent last few days in Fort Worth then the Frisco/Mckinney/Plano area
At least 90% mask usage. My stomping grounds in LA are maybe 50% at this point.
Most restaurants still not full capacity.
A store wouldnt let us in because “full capacity”
LA is more open than the peoples republic of the DFW metroplex

It’s more a rural vs urban thing. Rural places are wide open and have been

In Fort Worth now, my experience has been greatly different

Dallas area is masks everywhere. I’m seeing restaurants moving to 100% open but not much else changed. All the big businesses still have corporate policies requiring masks.

I heard the governor lifted the mask mandates but private businesses can still do what they want and ask you to wear a mask. I didn’t hear it’s wide open.

In the Houston area most places still require masks to get in, although mask enforcement varies, but otherwise most places are operating normally. Some restaurants still have some tables roped off. Really just depends on the individual business. At Bass Pro in Katy last weekend maybe 50% of customers wore a mask and another 20% wore it below the nose like a chin diaper.
I’ve never been unable to get into a store or restaurant due to capacity since the new year at least.

You hanging out in the queer bars again?

Don’t Dallas my Texas!
Seriously, Dallas is so blue, I’m not surprised at all by what you’ve said.
We went to PortA this weekend and no one was wearing a mask - on the beach or otherwise. I went in several places in Corpus on Thursday and they literally told us “you don’t need that shite in here”.
Texas Road House in Victoria today didn’t mind anyone without a mask, and every table was full and a line out the door.

So?
As long as the government isn’t telling people what to do then let the establishments decide how they want to handle it.
I guarantee you that people will find out which establishments don’t have restrictions and they will gravitate there. The other establishments will follow along or not be able to survive.

Do you have any original thoughts of your own?
I’ve never seen you make a coherent statement that wasn’t a headline on MSNBC

Like pretty much everywhere in the US, it’s urban vs rural

Good, they have the choice to do what they want and not have the government force it down their throats. I don’t care if you want to wear a mask for the rest of your life or keep your restaurant half full, but you shouldn’t force others to do the same.

Nothing has changed in and around Austin.

Actually, plenty of people subscribe to both philosophies.
