Really enjoyed the first episode. Gonna get a shite ton of character development out of these Disney+ shows.

Episode is a nice change up from Wandavision IMO.

Leave it to our dumbass gov'ment to try to replace the legacy of Cap in less than 6 months

We got 2 already in the 1st episode.

Rhodes and Batroc from Winter Soldier

I'm sure that's not what he means tho.

Also first appearance by Joaquin Torres. He is Falcon in the recent run of comics. The way he admiring Sam makes me think he could possibly take up that mantle when Sam inevitably becomes the new Captain America

Same government who said they needed to control the Iron Man suit and settled for being loaned a suit and repainting it as the ultra patriotic Iron Patriot for a while. But Rhodes is no longer an active US service member so I’m not sure how that currently sits with them.

So now with Steve gone and the “Captain America” title open, they are recklessly reviving the super soldier program.

Really liked it.

I wonder if he was the guy's friend before he took care of the kid?

Are you sure Rhodes isn’t active? He was wearing his uniform in the episode

Retirees are authorized to wear the uniform.

He’s still War Machine. He even joked about teaching Sam how to fly the “right way”. Plus we’re getting Armor Wars.

Correct. But he has been retired since (I’m assuming) his accident in Civil War. His armor in Infinity War says he is retired on the nameplate. So he is just an Avenger now.

Yeah if he was still active in Infinity War then he probably would have gotten discharged or court martialed for telling Secretary Ross to frick off and refusing the order to arrest Steve

Really good first episode. That action sequence to start it was pretty fantastic.

Such a great episode. It feels like the Winter Soldier with time for background. Excellent writing and tone. This has started off much stronger than WandaVision. Obviously they're going for the espionage feel which I freaking love. Taught action with long breaths for development feels right for this show. I think I'm really going to enjoy this one.

I kind of hated how this was handled in Infinity War because the last time we saw Rhodey in the MCU before that, he was telling Tony that he didn't regret signing the accords despite the injury.

Then, presumably a year or so later, he's telling Ross to frick off.

Probably because he didn’t realize at the time how the others would be treated and the fact that they were dealing with an unknown alien enemy at the time.

Plus I think they realize that cap was largely correct about the Accords and if Ross hadn’t been so adamant about them, then the Blip never happens.

I mean, they were put in super hero prison in Civil War.

But Rhodey was the most adamant about signing the accords in terms of "doing it to serve the country"/

Was a realistic point. As was the “how do you guys make money. Stark pay you?”

Five years of lost income/employment etc of a few billion people... that’d be an economic nightmare.

Sure it was a dour open, but when Sam and Bucky get back together, I imagine a brighter tone.

Also. Sebastian Stan is great. I still want him as a young Luke.

His deadpan is great.

Ross was either dusted by Thanos or had 5 years to soften his position.
