“ The team behind “Justified” is reuniting to develop an FX series based on the Elmore Leonard novel “City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit,” with Timothy Olyphant potentially returning as Raylan Givens, Variety has learned exclusively.
“Justfied” creator Graham Yost will serve as executive producer, with “Justified” writers and executive producers Michael Dinner and Dave Andron onboard to co-write, executive produce, and serve as co-showrunners. Dinner will also direct. Chris Provenzano, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly of Timberman-Beverly, VJ Boyd, and Taylor Elmore will all return as executive producers. Peter Leonard of the Elmore Leonard Estate will executive produce in association with MGM. Walter Mosely will serve as a consulting producer, as will Ingrid Escajeda. Eisa Davis will produce. Sony Pictures Television will serve as the studio, as they did on “Justified.””

Not quite sure how I feel about this with the perfect ending between Boyd and Raylan.

A very solid point. I'd say no Goggins and I'm not in, but truth be told, I'd watch regardless. I think I'd almost rather the same crew take a spin on a new IP, or a new focus in that universe. The ending was so well done, you don't really need to do more.

Also.
Didn't Raylan GTFO of Kentucky for good at the end?
Didn't he go back to the Miami office?

By the title looks like it will be in Detroit.

I think you can continue Raylan's story but leave Justified as it's own series so you don't disrupt that finale.
it's just a different era in his life.

In theory, but if ratings slow and it starts to go down hill, they’ll be tempted to break Boyd out of jail.

Interesting thing is I don’t think Raylan is in that novel. Why not just let Timothy Olyphant play the detective in that novel instead of making him Raylan again? Either way, if it’s the same writers and producers as Justified, I’m in. One of the better written shows I’ve ever watched.

Olyphant as Raylan is enough to carry a series regardless of who co-stars

As you may recall, there was a Detroit connection to Justified.

i really like the idea of having raylan and only raylan from the justified universe. new boss, new nemesis, new woman, new dewey crow. occasional reference to miami or lexington like better call saul does with breaking bad.

Theo Tonin is in jail, Sammy Tonin and Picker are dead, so Detroit must have been a wide open territory post Justified.
Perhaps Wynn Duffy got bored in Fiji and heads north to the Motor City to try his hand at being a boss???
I wouldn’t want Boyd back, that story was done to perfection, but Duffy would be the perfect character to be tapped into again

Would love for this to develop into a, "Whose going to replace Olyphant when he retires from Raylan Givins movies" situation!
Ten years from now, I want to come post a meme when some young punk says, "Lucas Black is my Raylan Givins. I grew up watching his movies".
Just like some younger Bond fans do with Roger Moore.
ETA:
Peter Leonard of the Elmore Leonard Estate needs to strike while the iron is hot, to make the most of the Leonard popularity.

As long as this takes place in Detroit, and not Harlan, and doesn't do anything to mess with the whole Justified storyline, I'm down for it. I don't think I could ever get too much Raylan Givens.

Fricking In!!! Just don't do anything that ruins, how Justified ended.

I would guess Rayland would be more of a guest spot that comes in from time to time than he would be the star of the show

I liked leaving Raylan where he was in Miami. I think the main guy in the Leonard novel is Hispanic as well. Doubt they are going to get away casting a white actor in that role with the woke crowd.
