Berkeley CA obviously
quote:
The protestors are part of an organization called Direct Action Everywhere, which seeks to put an end to horse racing.
In a press release, Direct Action Everywhere said they're "calling for Golden Gate Fields to be shut down, citing dozens of horse deaths over the past year, as well as widespread COVID outbreaks among workers at the facility. DxE also alleges that government and industry authorities have failed to address these issues, ignoring requests for enforcement action from Berkeley City Council and DxE."
Golden Gate Fields also currently serves as a mass vaccination site for COVID, but that also had to be shut down because of the protests. The track issued the following statement after the first race was canceled.

I'm shocked California even still has horse racing.
Also what do they think is going to happen to all the horses if they ever criminalize it entirely? How many wild horses are left in America?
ETA: There's 33k in america and about half are actually in holding pens while they figure out where to put them and let them live.
I'd wager (ha) horse racing actually gives plenty of horses good homes. Are there other reasons people own horses? I guess plenty still to have horses to manage land but I'd imagine these people want those practices gone as well.

They’ll be coming for our meat next like in France. I would laugh them off but BLM has shown that far left zealots can gain insane amounts of traction in this country, sadly.

So they're protesting covid outbreaks by having a vaccination site shut down? Yeah sounds about as intelligent as your typical protestor.

"How should we bring about change for an entire species?"
"Let's go lay in the dirt and hold hands!"
