It wasn't in the last few days. People have been pointing out some of his problematic writings for years. Writings that weren't directly tied to his books geared towards children.

It was his family that controls the publishing company for his books that decided to no longer publish 6 of his books. I had only heard of 2 of those books, so it's not like Cat In the Hat or Green Eggs & Ham are no longer going to be read to kids.
