Belt, not being careful with a saw, pulling some stupid stunt)?
To be honest, I'm too focused on correcting the wrong and stabilizing the patient than to be judgmental. It is challenging at times when you know the scenario ( like treating a cop killer for example), but you have a job and you do it without judgement to the best of your ability.

I have a good friend that’s an ER doc and we laugh and cry sometimes when he tells us the shite people shove up their arse and gets stuck and goes to the ER and says it was just an accident, or they slipped and fell and this golf ball just ended up their arse.

In general MD schools are harder to get in than DO schools. Most DO schools are more expensive. MDs usually get first choice of residencies. DOs are just more in debt but are just as good as MDs

You can possibly say that DOs in general are better for primary care since they focus more on it but many of the best schools for primary care are still MD schools.

I guess I never noticed when I go to for tots offices if they are MD’s or DO’s.

No. That depends on your residency after Med school. But in General DO schools cost well over 200k for four years and are usually a lot more. The best thing go to a public Med school, finish high in your class and get the residency you want. If you don’t think you are going to be in the top of your class,and you what a competitive residency, go to a private school with a big name. Education is not better IMO but the name will get you a better residency

Ultrasound was normal. His exam was reassuring, he looked super comfortable, and he wasn’t vomiting. So not a torsion most likely. Parents speculate he may have knocked them on something while rough housing. Dad then admitted that he had also somehow hit his balls and injured them a few times when he was the same age
But that said, if you highly suspect torsion you are supposed to “open the book” ASAP by twisting the testicle like you would open the pages of a book. Time is testicle so you have to move fast. You give a lot of pain meds before trying this, because 1/3 of torsions actually twist the opposite direction, so then if the patient is having more pain you have to twist it the other direction and this whole process is miserably painful. Yes I’ve had to do this before, and thankfully opening the book was the right direction and his pain immediately improved.

Hey Lithium, do you guys tend to those patients after you address the trauma? Or do y’all refer them/ hand them off to a different MD for their recovery? At what point (if any) do y’all say my job is done, let the next

Depends if they have to be transferred out on how long we take care of them. And as they leave the ER then we are finished.

Charity was a shite show but I’m jealous you got to train there. I bet you saw some unreal stuff.
