re: Wife wants a Peloton, but open to knockoffs if they're solid. Any suggestions?

I’m loving the newer Peloton cause I can just swivel the screen around and do other classes off the bike and still easily see the screen.
I think the older versions allow you to cast your screen to a smart TV for classes. I just use it at the gym when I want a no thought ride. It's an easy way to ride if I'm not feeling an outdoor road ride. I appreciate it for what it is, and the high resistance rides kill me.

I used to ride 2k - 4k per year and if you want my real advice, get a less expensive trainer (Schwinn/echelon/bowflex) and a REAL road bike for equal or less than what you'd pay for a peloton and the subscription. There is a significantly different level of fitness you get from a REAL road bike vs a trainer. It's called wind resistance and it's a killer.
My wife has absolutely no interest in becoming a cyclist on the road and that completely defeats the point of a quick workout in the house while the kids are there.
If she could go hop on a bike and ride around, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

You can. There is also an after market product that you can install on bike that makes screen on older bikes swivel as well. Think it’s like $60

Are adults really like this? Why would any grown woman care what another person has?
Not has, does. Competition is a core component of fitness and sports and is a good motivator for a lot of people. This isn't some unknown thing.

Men everywhere would be a lot more liquid if women didn’t like to show off for their friends
For the peloton, it’s more of a competitive thing

My wife has a Peleton, my brother has the Echelon. I've used both. Not knowing the price difference (i know the Peleton is more, just not sure how much more), i would go with the Peleton.

why do grown men pretend to be women on the internet?

Solid advice, I ride strictly for exercise so I use a old mountain bike with street tires instead of a true road bike, get the same workout, but going slower.

You being a woman should already know the answer to this....women across the globe are constantly trying to one up other women..the way they dress, the way they wear their hair, their accessories, jewelry....Facebook vacations, the food they eat......etc...PELETONS!!
The only thing that is a threat to a women, is other women..they are their own worst enemy.

If you don't get it the first time, you will the second time. Save yourself the hassle and the money and buy once, cry once.

Just sent this thread to one of my lifestyle blogger candidares to see what he would say...his response was:

I’m not even going to click on that because all other bikes are irrelevant and I’m not poor.

Just get her a peloton

My wife wanted the Peloton and I got her the Scwinn IC4. She uses it all the time and pays for the peleton classes. Win/Win.
No point in buying overpriced peloton.

I would say forget the knockoffs and get the Peloton. It's a better piece of equipment by a lot.
This. Just go ahead and get one instead of doing the tablet + other bike. A big part of it is having the metrics. You don't get that with just the tablet.
