...I'm just going to point out that LSU has been pretty much irrelevant in college baseball since 2017.
The issue isn't that they're getting killed by Louisiana Tech after blowing a game in breathtaking fashion to a team Tech beat 18-1 yesterday afternoon. It's that this year is a must-win year for a coach whose program is in, by LSU's standards, utter collapse over the past three years.
Anyone who thinks last year's team got robbed of a major resurgence by COVID is kidding themselves. They were BAD last year.
It's imperative this team plays a significantly higher level of baseball than we've seen the last two years, or else LSU becomes a has-been program despite elite resources.
And yes, Woodward is likely to make a change at the end of the year if that's what happens.
It does no good to scream Mainieri is the worst coach in college baseball and so on. He isn't. Essentially, he's Dale Brown at the end of his tenure and what you want is to try to send him out on top some sort of way.
But it's also unproductive to attack the folks who get frustrated at what is clearly a substandard product that we've seen so far this year. There's talent, but the product right now is visibly inferior to standard.

No one wants to read all that

PM will retire before he's fired.

2017 happened because 3 best friends came back for each other. That won’t happen again with this coach.

LSU is maybe the third best program in the SEC right now.
When is the last time you could say that?

PM’s complete lack of charisma makes him easy to dislike

They aren’t firing Mainieri under any circumstance

It’s ok to have a little bias

2019 wasn't an elite team or even a great team, but we finished the season ranked between 14/16 and went to the Supers. Hardly irrelevant.

So it’ll be 4 straight years of non elite teams. Awesome.

I’ve always thought he was a likeable and charismatic guy. But his brand of baseball has gotten stale, and it’s time for a change.

4? Last year was cancelled after 17 games so not sure how you can include that. And this season is on game 3. Relax.

Did you watch any of the games last year?

Yeah. We finished 12-5 and winners of 9 of our last 11 games.

It’s 5-2
