Getting old and realizing dreams will never come true...

How do you mid 30s-40s baws deal with it? Whether committed to hobbies you thought would amount to something, or just continuously hitting walls and realizing you’ll never really be more than average to slightly above average in whatever you may partake in regardless of your dedication or ‘motor’.
How do you find continuous motivation to live life to the fullest with those expectations? Or better yet, how do baws embrace settling for less?
Asking for a friend.

I set my dreams super low, that way even I can achieve them

Never give up. There’s no time limit on dreams. I’m living my best life in my late 30’s.

Start drinking heavy beer and initiating conversations about the knee injury that prevented you from going pro. That’s how I coped.

I don't pursue dreams... I pursue happiness which is an ever changing destination as one walks through life.
I'm 43 and am happier today than I've ever been in my life. Great wife, kids, and friends.

Most of the time, looking forward to something is more fun than actually doing it.
Set some goals for realistic things you want to do and start planning.
I’m doing a DIY hunt in Wyoming this September.

Well for one make sure that your dreams are achievable.
Then strive for them.
My 23 YO son still thinks he is going to buy a new Lambo in a couple of years but spends his money like its on fire and I just SMH.

You find new dreams/goals to pursue

Find satisfaction and meaning in new areas of life along with gratitude for what you do have. View life as one big educational opportunity and never cease learning. Learn a new language, instrument, or skill. You don't have to master something to gain insight and wisdom from it.
Continue learning, and you'll never get bored. That's my motto, at least

Maybe I set the bar too low but I achieved the major goals that were important to me by 30. The rest has been gravy.

Put more time and energy into making your loved ones happy (especially wife and kids if you got em) and you’ll find it makes you happy too.
And, don’t view it as a bad thing that you’re disappointed or feel “average”. It means you give a shite and want more out of life. That’s a good thing. Keep truckin baw.

The problem with dreams is people rarely want to put the work into achieving them
Then blame everything and everyone else for their unhappiness
