quote:Ehh, I remember my parents telling me my grandparents said the same damn thing about this country in the 60's and 70's. President assassinated, President's brother assassinated, Civil Rights leader assassinated, riots, protests, hippy's pouring in to Haight Ashbury, religious zealots Jim Jones starts the Peoples Temple, HariKrishna's, Helter Skelter and the Charles "Mason Family" murders.
Yes. This country's best days are very much over and done with.

If the younger generation believes this kind of shite, then it's on the older generations for being such shitty teachers.

My point is that when folks say there's no turning back for this country and the best days are over, etc. My grandparent's said the same 50-60 yrs ago when it felt like the country was in ciaos. The atrocities in the 60s/70s were some pretty bad times for our country. So the notion that the "good days are over" is silly when those weren't considered good days by the folks that lived through that crap.

So can my 7 year old. Granted he’s been to multiple WWII museums since I’m a WWII buff so he’s been exposed to Hitler, D-day etc.
These kids seem to be proud of their ignorance... sad.

I am not too sure but this would qualify you as a racist. You need reprogramming.

I'm assuming Douglas Southall Freeman? His bio on Washington is top-notch, also.

There's some truth to this, but previous gens were better self starters when it comes to obtaining good knowledge than the current younger ones.
Much of that is due to misinformation and shitty social media which is the perfect tool for anyone with a confirmation bias. There's a lot of information out there, but most of it's shite.
Kids need exposure to traditional sources as well as internet sources and learn that just because it's posted on the internet doesn't mean it's true. More reading, less surfing.
But yes, previous generations are to blame.

Undoubtedly the source of the decline. The 60's are when radicals started gaining control of the classroom and dumbing down curriculum.

There's a 4-volume of LBJ & I don't think the author's done yet.

Wasn't it Leno who used to ask questions you assume everyone should know to college aged people on the street?
When O'Reilly still had his FNC show they sent Watters out onto the streets to ask some pretty common sense, every one should know type of questions. His segments were always entertaining. I don't know if he's continued it on his weekend show.

True, but the amount of monopoly, open censorship, Chinese influence, condoned anarchy, open government corruption, government monitoring of every facet of our lives and lack of checks on federal power, open borders... our problems now aren't just contained to our own nation and our own nation is pretty close to an unprecedented degree of political, racial and now multi-gender sexual hatred. I don't see how it doesn't get worse.
