“We plan to begin the subject evaluation in February 2021...,” an announcement said. “Specifically, we will evaluate the extent to which the Department of the Air Force complied with DoD and Air Force policies during the location selection process; used objective and relevant scoring factors to rank the six candidate locations; and calculated the cost and other scoring factors accurately and consistently among the six candidate locations.”

quote:

The announcement was signed by “Randolph R. Stone, Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations Space, Intelligence, Engineering, and Oversight.” It further said said the inspector general’s office ”may revise the objective as the evaluation proceeds, and we will also consider suggestions from management for additional or revised objectives."

”Politicians in Colorado launched a full-scale assault on the choice of Huntsville’s Redstone Arsenal when it was announced in January. They said the decision to choose Alabama was ordered by former President Trump to reward Alabama for political support and was influenced by U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, who was chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee at the time.U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) said today that he requested the investigation. “It is imperative that we thoroughly review what I believe will prove to be a fundamentally flawed process that focused on bean-counting rather than American space dominance,” Lamborn said in a statement. “I have been in close contact with the Office of Inspector General and my colleagues on the Armed Services Committee about this matter, and have also requested the Government Accountability Office review the defective methodology behind this process.

What are the chances the Biden administration takes this from Alabama and gives it to a blue state? This would hurt our state.

There’s a basing process. They either followed it or they didn’t. If everything is in order, I’m sure it’ll be fine. If they made a decision that was against the criteria solely for political reasons, I hope they do fix it.

Military basing is already costly enough since Congress stands in the way of BRAC for political reasons. Let’s not compound it by making an unnecessarily costly, politically-motivated decision (if that’s what happened) on a basing action.

Are they completely unaware of the impact that Alabama has made in regards to our ventures into space?

While I would love it in Huntsville, got a lot a fam that would benefit with it there and some good buddies in Space command.

The only plus that Alabama had over Colorado is land space on Redstone and maybe cheaper labor for civilians. Most of the former USAF Space Command was set up in Colorado to start with. Doesnt make sense to move it all for existing space to HSV.

Dude this is Space Force not NASA, most Space Command launches will be handled by Cape Canaveral or Vandenberg AFB in CA.

The democrats screwed Houston out of getting one of the retired Space Shuttles likely due to politics.

About 350.

If the Obama/Biden admin can decide Nee York deserves a space shuttle more than Texas they can do pretty much anything and it won’t surprise me.
