Having spent a lot of time in West Monroe I can tell you that while there’s plenty of racists in Bawcomville and Brownsville (right next door for the unitiated) there’s plenty of mixed relationships in those two communities and they are both blended in that you have blacks and whites living next door to one another on just about on every street. Many are in the same business, if you get my drift. And if you’re ever over that way drop in to eat at Mr Peabody’s.

There's plenty of tension but when a place is so small you can't avoid one another, you at least reach some kind of accomodation and treat everyone with a minimal level of courtesy. That's been my experience anyway.

To OP:

Clearly you haven't been up north to places like Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, or DC. The south is probably the least racist place in the entire nation. We tend to get along pretty well with each other here just as we have been doing for more than a century.

Ya wanna see real racism? Go to any one of the aforementioned cities, or come out to California where I'm working right now. Racism is alive and well in all the places that they tell you it doesn't exist. And, as you should well know from real experience, in the southern portion of the nation we tend to get along rather well. We don't choose our friends and cohorts based upon skin color in the south.

Your post is trolling from the outset. Get over yourself and your own racism which you seem to project upon others whom you have never met.

I don't know what kind of fairy tale communities you all live in, but I came across more racism during my days at LSU than any other place I've lived or visited in the 10 years since graduating. It's actually appalling looking back at the things I heard regularly. I think the modern day south probably has examples of both the best and worst of race relations.

Your best option is to stay in Hawaii; leave the reckoning to those LA locals who know the shite that you don't.

I have a feeling that you spent more time at "Free Speech Alley" on Wednesday's in front of the Student Union, than you did in class if that's your take.

My mom was born there. I have cousins that grew up there. The city municipal pool was destroyed in the early 70's by white people. Why...? because the courts said the city could no longer exclude black people from swimming there.

That shite makes you shake your head.

Every town in Louisiana is still divided along racial lines to some extent.. grew up in Monroe ... lived in New Orleans and Baton Rouge my adult(minus 4 years in the Army)...

With that being said the most racially divided cities I’ve ever been to are Chicago and New York ... the most racist place I’ve ever been is Cheyenne, WY and all of Europe... as a Black man I’ll never visit either places again

Historically it's got to be Colfax - recently read up on the history of that town and the race war there. It is a pretty outrageous story. Now I get that it happened over 100 years ago, but a pretty intense story.

Probably New Orleans.

The worst town in Louisiana for racial tension has nothing on the average city in the Midwest.
