quote:

Elementary school board members in California were caught making disparaging remarks about parents during a meeting they thought was closed to the public. They don't know what goes on behind the scenes," Oakley Union Elementary School District board member Lisa Brizendine said during the virtual meeting held Wednesday. "It's really unfortunate they want to pick on us. They want their babysitters back." Another board member, Kim Beede, asked during the meeting, “Are we alone?” before saying, “B----, if you’re going to call me out, I’m going to f--- you up!” regarding pushback she ostensibly received over a social media post. Another member also suggested parents want their children back in school so they could smoke marijuana, which prompted laughs from other members.

This is the type of class acts teaching your kids.
Apparently parents don’t want teachers to teach, they only want babysitters.

So they finally admit to what they really are.

Belongs on the "women taking Ls" twitter page.

There was an administrator here yesterday basically saying the same thing.

Sit down, shut up, we know what’s best.

Is this where we pretend that there are not a shite ton of parents out there that see school as nothing more than a glorified day care center?

Look, I understand and support good parents who want their kids back in school learning and the teachers need to get off their asses and earn their paycheck but they're not wrong about some parents wanting their babysitters back.

It doesn’t matter if some parents send their kids to school to be babysat, but it does matter if teachers view themselves only as babysitters.
If they are only babysitters, stop hiring college educated teachers and simply hire people with maternal skills.

I can’t vouch for other parents, but I can say they’d be wrong if they cast that aspersion on me. I don’t smoke weed, but, more importantly, in-person learning > virtual for school aged children. Not to mention, in-person is what I expect when I pay my taxes.

Vouchers would cure a lot of this.

It's kinda funny the people getting paid to sit at home and not do their job are complaining about people who need their kids to go to school so they can work and support themselves, but teachers are heroes.

It would be nice if that were true. In most cases, that's (at best) all that they're getting.

The return on investment for funding public schools has been a joke for decades.
