Nope.

Close my eyes and I am out in under 15 minutes.

That’s a HUGE dose! And melatonin is odd in that the higher the dose, the less effective it becomes at producing restorative sleep. At 15 mg you probably aren’t even touching REM.. You should take the absolute lowest dose you can. It’s generally recommended people begin with 2 mg and increase from there as needed. Most people do well around 5. In fact, it’s often found that people who find it doesn’t work for them have made the same mistake you have....dosing too high:

I don't like melatonin. I find that Valerian Root works much better and it is a bit safer.

1. Melatonin is safe and effective (not effective for everyone) and can be used long term in any age group.
2. Most of the “research” you will find is funded by big pharma trying to get people to stop using over the counter meds. Melatonin is disrupting a billion dollar prescription sedative-hypnotic drug cash cow for big pharma.
3. Very few people should “need” sleep meds over a long period of time.
4. Most people need better sleep hygiene, better nutrition, and better exercise.
5. Benadryl can cause cognitive dulling when used long term. I would avoid it long term.

I have taken Melatonin almost every night for nearly 12 years. It has been a miracle drug for me and falling asleep every night, I have read articles saying that its borderline abuse and its probably permanently screwed up my ability to naturally sleep but I dont care. For years I would lay awake in bed trying to fall asleep staying up until 2 am fairly regularly. I tried Ambien for like a month but I slept walked and did other crazy shite, prescription sleep pills are not something to trifle with.

My superpower is the ability to fall asleep in under 2 min.

Thankfully I've never needed help to sleep. As long as I don't hear the people fricking behind my wall I'm out like a light within 10-15 mins of hitting the pillow. Maybe less.

Occasionally I just have bad nights, but who doesn't? I've never taken sleep aid of any kind. Unless you count coming back from the bar hammered.

I use it only to get my arse back to sleep, during times where I have work related concerns that seem to consume my mind if I wake up at night, but even then, I despise how it makes me feel the next day. I may take it once every few months or so.

99% of the time when I take melatonin, it's because I'm sleeping in a hotel or I'm sick with a cold.

It works and I feel well rested the next morning, but I don't take it often.
