Owners of a north Louisiana casino will reportedly announce this week their plans to try and move their license to a location in the Slidell area, in Lake Pontchartrain near the Oak Harbor and Lakeshore Estates subdivisions.

Sources to The Slidell Independent confirmed that a riverboat casino currently docked in Bossier City has already made initial steps to start the process of moving the license to St. Tammany Parish.

They need to bring in betting like in the fourth Rambo movie.

Start herding people down certain streets in NOLA and bet on who gets shot first.

Needs to be further away from New Orleans to compete with theirs.

I bet people who paid good money for property there are thrilled that high traffic of degenerates will now be introduced.

Let’s just call it what it is becoming

Slidell to be renamed New Orleans East-North
Mandeville to be named Metairie North

It is exponentially changing year after year.

Demographics aside, if you look on a map, there is a geographic case to be made that Oak Harbor area of Slidell is on the EASTERN shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

It didn’t get a lot of traffic, I think one thread on the OT, but they tried to get permits to build a casino a couple of years back at Fountainbleau Park. There was going to be a hotel and convention center type thing as well. It was a public / private partnership deal. The Mandeville people lost their damn minds and killed that thing. Probably the right call.

This is probably a solid fall back plan after waiting the right amount of time. The Mandeville people that drove the past protest don’t really consider Slidell worthy of effort or an actual part of the North Shore. I think they will let it pass and I don’t think there is enough political juice in Slidell to kill this off.

What would be the path to get the boat to Slidell? It’s on the Red River? Does that come to MS River? Would they tow it that way and then into the Lake?

Good call, move closer to the state border with Mississippi and away from the Texas border.

Oh wait, gambling is legal and more well known in Mississippi.

Have they passed sports betting in LA? There’s a growing movement here but state legislature want to just keep horse racing.

Not sure if Slidell will be able to compete with the nicer Mississippi casinos. But hopefully this ends up being a decent employer for the area. Being closer to New Orleans than that silver slipper place will probably help it.
