Biden weighs in on Trump impeachment, says Dems won't have the votes to convict

President Joe Biden said in an interview Monday that it seems Democrats will be unable to convict former President Trump — once again — during an impeachment trial.
His comments are a likely blow for Democrats and come as House Democrats presented an article of impeachment to the Senate Monday night.

But yet let’s go ahead and waste more time trying to impeachable President that is no longer in office.

Everyone knows this, and it's the Dems who've now set the precedent that the opposition party can impeach a President for no other reason than they just don't like him.
Congrats Dems. Once again, you've thrown more fuel on the fire you've created.

But hey, why miss an opportunity to have our wise 'lawmakers' demonstrate their full ignorance of the law and relive one of the biggest gaslighting 'tragedies' of our lifetimes for another week and a half.
Fools.

I don't know how but I somehow wandered into a bunch of CBC members pontificating during the proceedings to decide to do it and these people are stupid.

WTF is the sense of a "Trial" if the outcome is predetermined?

Yea, but Dominion will make sure they have the votes that 67 republicans in office will never be a thing

It gives the media something to dominate the news cycle during Biden’s first 100 days

So that's settled. It appears the Republicans are the ones pushing the impeachment.

I don't have a problem with a former president being impeached after leaving office. Otherwise, what's to stop future presidents from resigning prior to impeachment in order to stop the process and maintain their post-presidency perks?
I don't think Trump will be convicted by the Senate even if the necessary number of Senators privately believe he should be. I think they'd be too afraid of the potential backlash at the voting booth from Trump supporters. They have nothing to gain from a conviction personally but possibly a lot to lose, and politicians are generally more interested in self-preservation.

This is why they are pushing for a secret vote on the charges. Despite all three previous presidential impeachments being subject to a public vote. Including two in this lifetime.

My point is I don't think impeachment should be taken off the table just because the person is a former president and not the sitting president. A president can engage in far worse things than Watergate, and I think it's good to have ways to hold them accountable even after leaving office.

If they weren't so evil, it would be truly sad. We have so many brilliant, kind black people in this nation but it's so hard to get them in politics and then have them elected over these goons. Applies to all races of course but the CBC are the post-modern equivalent of African slave traders.

Yes, hopefully this is exactly what they do.
