So is there a limit on how long the defense team can draw this out? Ultimately, wouldn't it be something if they can tie up the senate for the next 2 years on this shite with no ability to do anything else?

This will be a 'closed door' trial as well, with a secret vote

Pat Leahy (Vt.), the most senior member of the Senate Democratic conference will preside over the trial.

The same Leahy, who can barely put together a cognitive sentence and told reporters during Kavanuagh hearing,"he not only would prosecute Kav, he would get a conviction, based off the evidence and testimony provided by Christine Ford.

I remain surprised he's still alive. He was old when I was young, and now I'M old AF. To keep this bipartisan, Chuck Grassley and Richard Shelby call Pat Leahy, "Kiddo."

When the GOPe swamper Turtle butt boy says this...

It's real bad folks.
quote:

“The Constitution requires that the chief justice preside over the impeachment trial of a president but that’s not what we’re doing. To me that’s indicative of the fact that we’re in uncharted waters,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of the Judiciary Committee.

“I just think it looks very petty and vindictive and I understand there are a lot of people who are mad but the process itself already looks like a railroad job,” he added.

The Chief Justice is the only officer that can preside over a presidential impeachment.

This isn't a Presidential Impeachment. It's a farce.

I think Roberts had a date with a ten year old child at Comet Pizza.

I don't like Roberts at all, he is a weasel. But don't spread that garbage about him without proof.

The same argument that allows for Roberts to NOT preside is also evidence that the impeachment is a sham in the first place, lol.

Robert's doesn't HAVE to preside over a trial, because Trump is not currently the President. And because Trump isn't the President, Roberts can just ignore it as the sham it is, because it's not a legit trial.

I was making fun of Lin Wood and his dopey allegations, which ironically were spread without any proof.

Show me the power of the Congress to impeach a civilian or get out.
The House impeached a sitting elected official. The trial will not take place until after the end of his term.

Much like filing a lawsuit the day before limitations expire. You still get to try the case AFTER the SoL.

This is not settled law in the impeachment context, but that is the argument.

But by that same token, if he was the president when impeached, Robert’s MUST preside over it. And he has refused.

So they aren’t following proper procedure and the whole thing should be tossed.

That's right, let's just make up the rules as we go and wipe our arse on the Constitution even more than has already been done by the Dems!
