A federal judge on Thursday rejected Parler's demand that Amazon.com Inc restore web hosting services for the social media platform, which Amazon had cut off following the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein in Seattle said Parler failed to show it was likely to prevail on the merits of its claims, or that the public interest supported granting an injunction requiring the restoration of service.

Parler, also banned from Google Play and Apple app stores, cast itself as a conservative alternative to social media platforms like Facebook.

This dinosaur judge is a Carter appointee. The public interest DOES indeed support granting an injunction.

I think they're trying to find someone else to host the servers. Last I read, they were working with some other companies and hoped to be back by the end of the month. Here's hoping!

If Parler has a valid contract, let's see if the law still means anything..on appeal.

Hack individual Federal Judges gonna Hack individual Federal Judge. The law is meaningless to them.

Indeed, it's all about finding the 'right' judge these days. Thank God for POTUS Trump who understood that filling judge positions at all levels was crucial. Hopefully this will pay off hugely!

Why do people even bother to go before a democrat appointee for anything remotely political?

I don't think there is much choice if that is the court and judge your case is assigned to. Happy to hear if I'm wrong!

I get fighting on principle, but isn’t sever space pretty cheap? Raising some money to build your own doesn’t seem that far fetched either for a platform at their current position. Seems pretty navigable??

no.

sure, it’s relatively cheap to rent server space from Amazon or Microsoft, but the savings are because you aren’t building the infrastructure for, paying for the pipe to the internet itself, building the servers out, maintaining them, adding storage, maintaining backups, updating your servers, and supporting all of that yourself in house.

It could be done, but cheap and easy wouldn’t be words to describe it. renting servers is a much easier path.

Why file this case in Seattle? It could have been filed literally anywhere in the United States.
