But some jackass backed into his car in a parking garage, and he had to wait a year for them to fix it. Still drove but the self driving mode was disabled due to one of the sensors being hit.

Wait... it's takes Tesla a full year to fix a $10k feature? What the actual frick????

Not sure about a whole year, but there are definitely some horror stories on how long it takes service to repair items sometimes.

It's easily the biggest con of buying one and of Tesla in general IMO.

One thing that bothers me about the touchscreens in these electric cars is how they look like somebody just threw an iPad in there. It’s just not aesthetically pleasing to look at for me personally and I’m nitpicking. Why not build it into the dashboard more so, similar to what the Ram pickups have now?

It's purely a cost cutting measure. A lot of other car companies do the same thing. I hate it too. It looks far better when the screen is integrated into the dash and it's still far better to have physical buttons for things like stereo control, AC/Heat, and cruise control.

I will grant that theoretically the dash tablet should be easier to upgrade w/the Tesla configuration if car companies decided to let you do that with an older vehicle but I have my doubts they would let you upgrade it instead of forcing you to buy a new car.

Yeah, that makes sense. Hopefully they take that into more consideration in the future with all these competitors in the EV world coming to the market. Also want to see better range for more affordable prices. Probably wishful thinking though

soon well over half of Teslas on the road will be $50k or less.

Didn’t Musk announce that he was trying to get more affordable Teslas to the market for the average person by 2023? Thought I read that somewhere he was trying to get base models down to $25k. I would assume the range wouldn’t be very good. Probably something like 90-150 miles

There would be a huge market for this if it was good looking.

The whole approach was to work down from $100k cars to more affordable vehicles. So far it is working. Also, as pointed out a few posts before, Tesla doss have delivery and QC issues. The pussh for 500,000 cars delivered lead to more issues.

Yes, he said that at Battery Day, but it was just that quick comment but no details given.
