Bright spot of the DC front

Atleast so far Coach O has tried to get up and comers and not retreads.
I think the Bo fiasco made him and Woodward realize we need a new blood.
We just have to be patient

I agree. I'm upset we didnt get our first 2 targets but listening to Moscona cry on AFR he had a point. It doesnt have to be a big name from a big school it can be someone trying to get their name up with passion and fire to want to succeed. so what if it comes an FCS or something like that.

patience and silence is golden, find the guy, sign the guy and tell us about him at the press conference

you do realize that the Freeman interview was leaked by an ND reporter before anyone from LSU talked about him?
And Nielsen's name and all that went on with him was leaked by NFL reporters

Exactly! That's the way it used to work back before Al invented the internet!

So Orgeron didn’t tell everyone he wanted Freeman and that he was his number?
And then that Neilson was it?
And then that Neilson was it?

I like that O is going after the best of the best. "Make them say no." Obviously disappointing we missed on the first two; let's hope we land the 3rd.

While I agree with you, and it seems like many others do too, it's funny to read this board because a lot on here will never be happy (likely because they just don't like O).
When we get to hear a name on this board and don't land him O is a bumbling idiot, and when no new names immediately come to light after we miss on a hire, people say O is clueless and has no back up plan.

Was reported a few weeks ago Joe Barry was high on the list then it was reported he's #1 now that he kept striking out. Wouldn't categorize Joe Barry as an up and comer. More like a career destroyer everywhere he has been. That seems like a hire you'd make if you want to crawl up in the fetal position waving a white flag.

Another frustrating part of this mess is the fact that our entire defense is out of a position coach with the expectation of DB group.

which is important because good defense is mostly talent and effort

I agree with this. A really good DC that is stopping offenses with a similar level of talent as the defense is really no different than 2 Power 5 programs going at it with similar levels of talent on both sides of the ball. UGA/LSU or LSU/FL.
Just my opinion but it does seem that kids today respond more towards the cerebral type of coaching and teaching as opposed to the screamers and intimidators of the past. Just a very general observation.

LSU isn't installing a new defense untill DC hired or in reality spring practice.... Right now they are just working out and working on fundamentals. Don't really need a position coach to work on tackling and pursuit angles

They want ppl they can sort of relate to, it doesnt have to be the same race, but a young guy. There's a video of russ Callaway in locker room dancing with the team after beating florida, those kids enjoyed the hell out of that. That is how you get them to buy in.
