Well it could bite the Saints in the arse, and give people who have almost had it a reason not to renew season tickets.
Do you have any idea how long the season ticket waiting list is? Obviously not.

That's because it was a lateral move. Not a promotion.
Nielsen will make double, get play calling experience and the Saints aren't playing the Tigers in week 3 at Jerry World. Not one conflict of interest.
This is all pettiness. You don't do this to the state in which you reside and take handouts from.. That's shitting in the hand that feeds you.

I don't think it has been that bad over the last few years. Friends and family who haven't been on the list long at all have gotten calls the last few seasons. I imagine a good bit will drop their tickets after the COVID debacle and Brees retiring.

Totally wrong. He wasn't OC for the 49ers, he was PGC, so not a lateral move.

No one is thinking about it in these terms except this idiotic forum. Nielsen will likely end up LSU DC and the average fan won't know or care about any of this. And it isn't a big deal.

The Saints might need to be reminded that the capitol is in Baton Rouge not New Orleans.

No Duh.. Matt wanted Mike to be his PGC.

If you don’t think that this move isn’t petty than you’ve never entered into a contract negotiation, nor have you had to sever a contract. We agree, Nielsen will end up as the DC. The Saints could have handled this situation 100% better. Their pettiness is showing.

I'm not an attorney and I can answer that.
Non-compete clauses are not enforceable in right to work states (restraint of trade) UNLESS the person is employed under the terms of an employment contract.
I am an attorney and this is not how it works.
quote:
Anyway, since Nielsen is under contract, any non-compete language included is enforceable.
This is EXTRA not how it works.
Lets start at the beginning.
Your statement that in order for a non-compete to be enforceable, there has to be an employment contract is a tautology. In order for there to even BE a non-compete clause in the first place there would necessarily have to be an employment contract. Simply being employed via contract does not make a non-compete enforceable. Beyond this, not every state--not even every right-to-work state--has the same rules about non-compete enforceability. That's another point about which you're incorrect.
The fact is that non-competes are very frequently unenforceable in Louisiana. The reason your employers let you sign contracts without them is because they know that the non-compete would very likely be unenforceable even if you did sign it. They do it largely as a deterrence mechanism.
Also, i don't even know what you mean when you say
quote:
and tell them if they want me to sign theirs, they will have to sign mine
Are you implying that you would have multiple simultaneous employment contracts?
Bottom line is that you don't know what you're talking about.

Wow, you're so cool! Everyone loves to compare their daily lives to pro sports, it's not the same. There's nothing even definitive out there on what the "move" exactly even is but melt away on speculation.

Do you think there might be some type of geography clause that Nielsen can’t coach within a certain amount of miles from NO?
Would that language apply to a college team?
Would you tell your client to make the state buy out Nielsen’s contract even though they let play at the dome rent free.. and you might eventually need to play at Tiger Stadium if a hurricane does any type of damage to the Super Dome.
I’ve signed and broken a non-compete contract before and beat it pretty easily. I reside in Iowa now, a state that usually sides with the employee. I know Louisiana laws are really odd.

Contracts are contracts bud. Whether you’re an investment banker or a DLine coach.

It's amazing how many people don't know this. The 49ers blocked the Browns and Packers from interviewing Mike LaFleur last year. He just now was able to leave to be OC for the Jets with Saleh going there.
That rule no longer exists. They changed it last May.
So even if LSU isn’t hiring Neilson, it doesn’t change anything in terms of a divisional rival being able to pluck him away
Any NFC south team could hire him away as DC at any moment and there’s nothing they could do

So, stop getting coaches from the saints or you won't be able to get coaches from the saints anymore?
Posted on 1/19/21 at 11:29 am to LSUZach011
No, stop trying to get coaches from saints, or deal with Sean Payton's bitch arse, making things suck anytime we have to deal with the saints moving forward.
There really isn't a damn thing the saints can do about it, but they sure can be big time whiny bitches about everything and try to make things as difficult as possible.

So this is basically just Payton showing his arse.

Pretty much.
I think people forget or underestimate how pissed Payton was about Brady leaving.
Which is also just completely insane

In this particular case, Nielsen had contract language that allows the Saints to block this. They wouldn't be able to block a move to DC or HC in the NFL most likely.
But here, they can. So they are going to use that leverage to get something they want: a contract provision.
This isn't a big deal and its smart business on Loomis's part. You people are crazy.
We need to just keep copy & pasting this until the situation is settled. This is a contract negotiation and people just need to wait until the attorneys on both sides hash it out.
I’m an LSU and a Saints fan. No need for the fan bases of either team (many of both) to bicker like this. Everyone needs to just chill and give them time to work out the details.

Feldman reporting its done and he is staying in NOLA.
Posted on 1/19/21 at 12:18 pm to PowahCajun
It's looking like they will be doing that anyway. Coach O should try to get the best coaches that he can. he happens to have a history with Nielsen and Nielsen happens to be in NO. If they think he's right for the job, it shouldn't matter to them who he is currently working for, do what you can to get your man.
