We’re consistently a top 25 team based on predictive metrics in the all the computer models. But we don’t have any signature wins over ranked opponents that would register with the human polls. It’s pretty simple.

College basketball voters have a very hard time moving new teams into their polls because the majority of them don’t pay attention to teams that aren’t ranked. If you are ranked your highlights are shown on sportscenter and halftime shows. If you aren’t ranked, the only time your score even shows up on the bottom ticker is when a game within your conference is being shown.
Look at how long it’s taken bama to get noticed and they’ve been blowing everybody out for a while.
Had LSU beaten St. Louis they would have moved into the top 25 the next week and probably still be there.

I agree with everything you wrote.
But still it's difficult to understand why the #2 team in the SEC at this point in the season can't garner at least enough attention from sportswriters throughout the southeast to break the Top 25.

media polls are irrelevant in today's game. More relevant are the actual metric-based rankings, like NET.

Mostly agree but being ranked generates a little excitement in the program. Talking heads only mention top 25 teams and it fires up the fanbase.

My big take away is that the Computers love LSU and the human polls hate Will Wade.
The Tournament Selection Committee is made up of flawed humans who will likely have a bias against Wade. LSU prolly drops a seed or two in the NCAA tournament due to the human element.
