So, 9-5 Illinois is in the top 25, and LSU isn’t. Yeah, this poll makes zero sense.

But still it's difficult to understand why the #2 team in the SEC at this point in the season can't garner at least enough attention from sportswriters throughout the southeast to break the Top 25

Well even on the post game SECNow Saturday the segment was “who will go further Alabama or Tennessee.

I get that bama beat Tennessee but otherwise they still have a 20 pt loss to Stanford, loss to Clemson and loss to WKU.

They are a very good team but there’s no reason that they should be set apart from LSU.

We’re consistently a top 25 team based on predictive metrics in the all the computer models. But we don’t have any signature wins over ranked opponents that would register with the human polls. It’s pretty simple.

Objectively that is true. But then you start to look at teams ranked AHEAD of LSU.

Duke - They are 5-3. They literally quit on the Non-conf schedule. Their "best" win is over 4-8 Notre Dame.

Boise St. (coaches poll). They've beaten exactly ONE team with a NET rating under 130

Drake - They are undefeated. They've also played exactly ONE team with winning record all season (6-3 SIU)

So while LSU doesn't have a "great" win as of yet. Their full body of work is better than some ranked ahead of them.

Still, the polls don't matter. Beat Alabama tomorrow and Kentucky on Saturday and the media/coaches will have to begrudgingly acknowledge LSU

Just keep winning that's all we can control. Being ranked in 30s is laughable

That's irrelevant. I don't know and I don't care relative to what I posted earlier.

My point remains: I'm starting to believe sportswriters who vote in the college basketball AP rankings and who have heard that recording are being influenced by Wade's "strong arse offer" comment when they vote, or NOT vote, for LSU.

Makes no sense why we're not ranked, and not even right on the cusp for that matter. We're #10 in RPI and #22 in the NET rankings. Both of our losses are to Quad 1 teams, with St Louis being #13 in NET rankings.

It’s obvious at this point that ESPN, who’s controlled by a small cabal of coaches like Coach K, have it out for Wade. Consider that LSU has been a top 2 SEC team for 3 straight years while also having some major upset wins in Wade’s initial season like beating the national runner up Michigan. LSU has had to reel off months of win streaks to get back into the top 25 each of the past 2 seasons after an early loss including numerous top 25 wins. Now contrast that to teams like WVU or Tech who have 4 losses yet remain in the top 10 or other teams who play nobody but are still kept around the top 15 despite losing any relevant games. You also have teams like Tennessee and Alabama who LSU has owned, going 5-1 against those 2 over the last 2 seasons, constantly pushed past us despite having similar records. There’s just no objective reasoning for the discrepancy in ranking or movement between us and similar teams, especially within a conference we’ve led for 3 seasons (+5 wins over Tennessee, +10 over Bama).

Buckle up - Tough stretch of games coming up in the next month.

If the Tigers can survive that tough stretch, then this team will really roll.
