According to the BLS CPI calculator, $1,650 in 1974 is the equivalent of $10k today.

Electronics is about the only thing I can think of that have come way down in price over the years when compared to cars, housing, food and the other things we pay for to try to live a fairly comfortable life.

Maybe it's by design------keep the masses entertained while we rake them over the coals for everything else.

Never owned a British road bike, but always liked them. Had 4 friends with different bikes and we'd often swap during rides.

Not a bike bike guy, but I always liked the look of a cafe racer.

Household spending on food as a % of annual spending is like half of what it used to be.

Costs down but last a fraction of the time.

The nuts tended to unscrew themselves. Smooth ride though.

Yep. I once owned a 650 BSA twin that found me getting slapped in the head with the front fender one night on a ride home from a Christmas party.

For the life of me I still can't figure out how it happened like it did, but that fender popped up and smacked me and I'm glad I had a helmet on.

I never owned one, but my favorite Brit bike was the Norton Commando.
