Astronaut Bruce McCandless makes the first untethered space walk, Feb 7, 1984.
Fun Fact: McCanless' father was a WWII Medal of Honor recipient and his great grandfather was killed in a shootout with WIld Bill Hickok.

Also is that a real undoctored image from '43? It's really sharp and vivid. Other color pictures from that era ive seen are comparatively lower res or quality.
