BlackBerry transformation - time to buy is now

DD here for BlackBerry:
Yes this is the same company that sold phones. They do not sell phones anymore. Now they sell software, and trendy software for the future at that
BB QNX is a software product for EVs. A majority of the top 20 EV producers are partnered to use BB QNX for their vehicle lines, about 60% of market share so far with potential partners that do not have a provider yet. QNX is a real time embedded operating system for vehicles, and already is installed in 175 million vehicles, but it can also be found in a number of non-vehicular settings
BB IVY is an upcoming partnership with AWS, announced a few months ago.
IVY will be a huge component for driverless vehicles in the future.
BB also is very big in the cyber security market with its Cylance software, which is a direct competitor to Crowdstrike.
The switch to software sales for BB is huge. It’s revenue is very high margin and poised for big growth in the near and long term. The company has been in a turnaround for several years now, and the CEO has recently made a big investment into marketing and has said they will be profitable again this year. This year is the end of the turnaround cycle, as the company has mostly been turned around, but the stock price doesn’t reflect it. Crowdstrike is a good comparison for the type of valuation BB could achieve soon
This is a long term, buy it and forget about it type play. There are catalysts for short term growth, but the long term catalysts like the expansion of QNX and creation of IVY are key
Edit: and next catalyst is a civil trial for Friday between BB and Facebook. Facebook bought WhatsApp, which uses stolen BB technology. A big settlement is expected
2nd edit, 6/7/21: this is not financial advice. I am ape

I still loosely follow BB and used to trade the equities and options pretty frequently. Just based on my limited reading recently, I agree with your take.
Just looked at the implied vol. and it looks just healthy enough that I might sell some 6.5-7 Jan. 29 naked puts - and I might even go long on the equity sooner than that expiration.
Thanks for calling it out.

I'll ride with you simply based on the fact you were defending GME in that thread with me

I find BB to be incredibly comparable to GME and that’s why it’s my next play. I’m already invested in it but once GME settles I’ll be putting a lot more on it. Glad you’re joining in

Friend,
You’re the cgrand of unexpected turnarounds. I will be presenting my case to Mother tonight why we should hold your stock tips in the same esteem as cgrand, who has put us back on track to returning to our Prytania home.

Studying for my MBA has taught me a whole new way to look at opportunities.
Financials are always important, but at the base of every solid investment needs to lie a good team and a good marketing department.
BB has already been there - this will help their marketing tremendously as they already have the brand recognition. Did they just recently get into this sector or has it been a while coming?

one more thing on BB...
y'all research Foxconn vis a vis AAPL and their driverless car initiative, then take a look at what happened with ROKU after their deal with TCL
then go back and read upperdecker's post again

. In November 2013, John S. Chen took over as CEO. His initial strategy was to subcontract manufacturing to Foxconn, and to focus on software technology. Currently, his strategy includes forming licensing partnerships with device manufacturers such as TCL Communication and unifying BlackBerry's software portfolio.

This is several years in the making. I believe since 2013. Their revenue is already entirely software sales and subscriptions and services. And they have a small P/E ratio compared to most software companies that aren’t going down the gutter. Compare to Crowdstrike. This stock is mostly down bc the transformation was costly and killed their earning years in a row. But John Chen the CEO says that all changes this year and they should be profitable again, and they have a lot of things on the horizon too

This forum has been crushing it for my portfolio. Thank you for the tip. I just bought some.
Buy some TDOC if you don't own any. Everyone is learning about the telephone dr. service and starting to use it.

Bought about $5k of BB in December. There is all sorts of chatter about the potential in this stock. Long term hold and will be accumulating

Forgive me ignorance, I’m a newbie and am trying to invest in order to have some money for my 6-month old to go to college in 18 years.
If I wanted to purchase $500 worth right now, what would I need to do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Go to etrade and sign up for an account. Transfer money from your bank account to your etrade account.

Like instructions on how to purchase a stock? Just open an account with a broker like TDAmeritrade, deposit $500, and search for the stock and buy it. BlackBerry is ticker BB, so search for BB if that’s what you want

Friend,
Mother was thrilled when I offered her this opportunity. We now own 2500 shares of BB, and just in the five minutes since opening you have made us about $200. I like this as a long hold, even though I have no reason why. I guess I am just trusting of your advice.
