Below $10 now, dropping at the moment

Should have waited to buy, bought literally at the top

End of the day before a long weekend. A lot of people are just taking profits right now.

Yeah long weekend, most everything is down. I'm not sweating too much here.

Good time to add if you bought really high. Thats what my plan is with NIO

I bought at 7.98 but I think I'm going to stick with what I have. I don't like to have too many shares of any one stock. I prefer to have a moderate number of shares in each stock I own. Luckily I'm able to purchase specific dollar amounts of each stock so as long as the stock grows over time, I'm happy.

If y’all are looking to add then wait for 9.15. At this point it’s bound and determined to fill the gap. I didn’t think we’d get a gap fill this early and with that much distance to go but here we are

Shoulda waited until Tuesday, but at least I got in, and have 400 shares at a 10.59 average

Any info on the settlement with FB?
Posted on 1/15/21 at 7:44 pm to dltigers3
Got in at 8.06. Work responsibilities cost me getting in around 7.6 lol. I’ve been thinking about jumping in ever since it dipped to the 6-7 range a couple of weeks ago. Upperdecker’s rational breakdown finally got me to pull the trigger. Thanks boss.

BB is having a good day in the Canadian markets today, hopefully that translates to a strong showing tomorrow

Looks like another gap opening. Doesn’t feel as good after the gap up and gap fill last week
Posted on 1/19/21 at 7:48 am to Upperdecker
Yeah, how am I supposed to get excited at a 7% premarket gain when it was a dollar higher on Friday?
Posted on 1/19/21 at 8:00 am to SLafourche07
I’m just concerned about it going into another gap fill again, which would wipe out the PM gains
Posted on 1/19/21 at 8:01 am to Upperdecker
What does that mean? Should I wait to buy it then and not right at this moment?
Posted on 1/19/21 at 8:04 am to AndyJ
“Gaps get filled” as in if you look at the current chart, if we open at 10.50 or whatever, there will be a large gap between Friday and close and open today. Those gaps tend to be filled, meaning the price will go back down to the other side of the gap ($9.65 or so) before climbing back upwards. I don’t completely understand why it occurs (nobody does), but it’s a pretty common phenomenon. Take a look at Friday’s chart

Ok thanks! I keep learning from you. I went to my VG account knowing the price from Friday ($9.84) BUT I could only buy at $10.40. So I was confused.

Thanks for that lesson, UD. Appreciate your insight.

Are you at all worried about the gap at 6.16?

Not particularly but that’s a good catch. It almost filled but yea about $0.50 was not filled. Some gaps are never filled, and some it takes a very long time to fill. Again it’s not something very well understood, but short term gaps near a current price action tend to fill the most often, specifically when upward or downward pressure slows. A classic cup and handle chart will usually feature gap fills during both the cup and the handle
