Because they did. O does the same thing with recruiting and it gets us burned. He often doesn't have a Plan B until it hits him in the face.

LSU has contacted numerous Potential DC’s. The first few options were not Interested so they didn’t get to the Interview stage. LSU will either circle back to them or continue going down the list.

Why does it seem you need to know everyone Coach O has been in contact with? Just let it happen. You won’t know if it’s the right hire until the season begins anyway. I’m sure there would have been some melts over Brady’s credentials before the 2019 season.

With the way the season went, knowing you were going to hire another DC, it seems as though O didn’t have a list of potential DCs vetted.
He went all in on Freeman and now it seems like they're searching for a back up plan...instead of having your #2 - #3 choices ready.
Unfortunately, it reminds me of his recruiting strategy. Identify who you want, go all in! Get em, Great. They go elsewhere, scramble to fill the spot.

Understood! The connections Orgeron has are plenty, Im giving him the opportunity to get it right which will be known maybe as soon as fall practice before the season begins or sooner. Forget the Pelini hire, in O’s mind this the one that’s going to make or break him. And he knows it.

And what would you say if CEO’s top choices were ...
1) Freeman
2) Mason
3) Odom
Mason and Odom could have been his back-up plan providing Freeman didn’t work out. All reported signs indicated Freeman was all but a done deal then got cold feet before saying “I do”

That is most certainly not how any team recruits. They have boards with multiple names at each position with grades ranking each one. Why say something you obviously have no clue about?

That’s the troubling part for me. This IS the hire for O. We heard about Freeman (not TD sources) and no one else. You usually hear about interest and that’s from the coach vetting possible hires. Honestly, outside of Freeman, what do we know? From the usual credible sources (not TD posters), they haven’t been able to elude to any names. Is this the most secret hiring search of all time...outside of Freeman being known? Feels like no vetting search and top 3 candidates. It was an all or nothing. Lol

Regardless of reason, I always wonder why it seems like pulling teeth to get people to coach at LSU.
Even the head coaching "search" after Miles was head scratching.
With the amount of money, talent and fan support, you'd think more people would want to be here.
