The Turnovers Are The Biggest Problem

This team is turning the ball over at an even higher rate than last year even though they've gone from top 5 pace to bottom 5 pace, 16.7 TOs per game vs. 16.4 per game last season.
Fixing the turnovers has been one of the team's main focuses along with fixing the defense. New coach, new focus, worse results. It feels like this team may not get on track until they get a new lead guard in place.
Before you go saying that lead guard is on the bench, which is something I hope too, Kira averaged 3.5 TOs per game last season at Alabama. I wonder if that is part of why he isn't getting any minutes yet.

Well, yeah.

Yeah, before the season, we were hoping that Lonzo might improve and we hoped that Bledsoe could be a good PG for us.
Instead of two PGs, it turns out that we have none. We miss Jrue so much.

I think the turnovers are due to a lack of spacing forcing the guards and wings to create when they aren't fast or shifty enough to do so, or just flat out refuse to do it (Lonzo). I've seen more bad dump offs in the paint and our bigs cannot and should not be forced forced handle those.
The quickest solution I see is starting JJ and benching Lonzo, you'll create that space, even though it forces Bledsoe into more of a pg role I trust him over Lonzo at this point to make the right decision.

Jrue was averaging 3 turnover his damn self here. Let’s not act like we were a great team with Jrue as the lead guard.

He can get his shot far better than anyone else playing guard on this team

I must have missed all the success we had with him over the past years. We need a guard who can be trusted with the ball in his hands while limiting the turnovers more than getting his own shot off.

When you have a guard that can create his own shot that opens up spacing which can prevent turnovers.

I blame the coaching for lack of success above players. But even then he has never played a lot with players of Zion and BI's caliber, especially a guy like BI on the wing and the only exception was when we had Boogie and AD that team was fire until Cousins went down.

Holiday is playing a hell of a lot more efficient with good spacing and more talented ball handlers and scorers around him. He might not be a great #1 option but he's a hell of a number 2/3 guy.

And better coaching.

Not disagreeing with that, but we’ve had teams where the spacing was fine but jrue’s turnovers were still there. Jrue’s usage is down this year compared to previous years with us, and of course so are his turnovers.
My main point is that there are several other guards i’d rather for this team before wishing for Jrue’s return. I’ve seen that story before.

Holiday's handle was usually good enough to beat somebody one on one, but when he hit traffic with the defense trying, he'd often turn the ball over. He wouldn't be changing the turnover situation much here.
It's a big contract, as big as what we're hoping to avoid with Lonzo, but trading Lonzo/Melli for Buddy and Bjelica seems like it would solve a lot of problems for the Pels.

Lonzo + Melli = 15mil
Buddy + BJelly = 31mil
Won't quite work

That wasn't meant to be a full trade, and Sac needs more value to do that. I'm just saying if the Pels either need more shooting to open things up for their limited creators, or a better creator, shooting is more attainable.

Our 3 point defense is the biggest reason for every single loss. Our rotations look absolutely awful. There is someone open on the 3 point line on every possession, and of course its always someone who bricks those same shots against everyone else but then shoots lights out against us.

Shooting is only attainable on overpaid guys like Buddy. Any shooter on a good contract is not attainable, unless you give up a lot

They are gassed by the 4th. The lack of energy is preventing the team from closing.

Nah, he wasn’t the answer either.
We need a “real” lead guard, not a combo guard/secondary play maker.
