Talking some bribes. Sort of.
Cash to stay? A bonus of a few grand to stay through the next spike, and not call in sick or leave for big bucks at a temp assignment.
Cash bonus to get vaccinated?
This is really for other HC workers that I am asking. I know others are getting screwed in this economy, and I am not trying to be a dick and rub salt.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston Methodist is offering its employees a $500 bonus as a "thank you" for their work throughout the pandemic.
In a letter issued to hospital staff last week, president and CEO of Houston Methodist Dr. Marc Boom said the bonus will be given to employees in early March, but there are certain criteria workers have to meet.
"Eligibility criteria will include getting a COVID-19 vaccination, fulfilling [Houston Methodist's] obligation as health care workers to lead the community," wrote Boom.
Though vaccination is not mandatory for Houston Methodist employees yet, Boom said it will be "eventually."

To counter the biggest offer I’ve heard. 6 weeks in San Jose $71000 bucks. I can’t imagine the tax hit though.

I can imagine it, it’s just a big number to see in 3 pay periods. Despite what the net number is, the difference will make my arse pucker a bit.

I've heard of incentives to work more shifts. One was $1000 to work one shift.
There are already a ton of incentives to begin working there. Same hospital offered $20,000 signing bonus for 2-year contract.

My favorites are "bonuses are taxed higher" and "1099 Employee"

Lets just say my hourly wage has doubled over the next 12 weeks since I agreed to stay on as a staff RN where I work. There is more but the double time is garaunteed.
Travel nurses still make more but I don't want to deal with the BS of travel nursing.

The general gave a bonus of roughly twice what I make in a month to certain staff for signing a 1 year

Like you when someone sold you a house saying that 290 will be ok to drive in a couple years.
I’m no baller like you folks. I’ve never banked $71k in 3 bi-monthly checks. So the sheer number coming out will be jaw dropping to look at. Like your first paycheck ever as a teen when you wondered what the hell.
The honest question I will ask and admit not knowing, as someone piped up as a CPA. To a Texas baw like me, would these checks for work done in the state of California be a kick in the sack? State income tax? If the company is based elsewhere but you are working in California do you pay your state taxes or California’s? Being from Texas we have no state income tax.
I honestly do not know the answer to those questions.
