Seems pretty happy at Cincinnati and seems to have a great relationship with Luke Fickle. Family as well.

Maybe they already have. Thus. That’s why Gaye and Farrell come back. Who knows.

Make him turn down the money and say NO

Somebody will. As head coach. I just don't see him leaving Luke Fickell until he gets a HC job which shouldn't be much longer.
Fickell was his position coach at Ohio State. Freeman and his family lived in Fickell'd house while his was being built. Fickell turned down the HC position at Michigan State. Freeman then followed suit and turned down the opportunity to be DC at Michigan State for his former DC at Ohio State, Mel Tucker.
I dont think Freeman has much to gain by coming to LSU. He doesn't need the exposure...he's already a coveted name, a Broyles finalist, showcasing his defense in a NY6 bowl. LSU can certainly pay him more but hes on his way to a big pay day as a HC in a year or so anyway.

That’s true, and I’m sure Freeman will eventually move up if he sticks with Fickell. However, if he wants to become a head coach faster, proving himself apart from a guy who everyone knows is a great defensive mind will do that. If he came to LSU and turned the defense around in one season, there would be no doubt how good he is. He would get solid P5 offers after two seasons max.
All that said, some guys take a longer view and are more patient. He may prefer to stick with Fickell and make a move up with him to somewhere in the Big 10 in a year or two. We’ll see.

Fickell is also a defensive guy so Freeman might be looking to go out on his own. Do well for a few years at a program like LSU and you get a P5 head gig.
Also, objectively, LSU DC is a better job than Cincy DC.

He’s not getting a P5 head job for his next position. He’ll either need to be a head coach at a G5 school or DC at a program like LSU. The latter has less responsibility/pressure and it is a golden opportunity to take an historically bad defense and make them solid in 1 year which would be huge for his reputation. We have the talent, it’s kind of low hanging fruit for a competent coach.

And if the Fickle family truly cared for the guy they would advise him to do what is best for Marcus and his family.

He’s not coming to LSU. Has enough resume to get a HC gig

My thoughts exactly. And he will probably get consideration this year. But still, hopefully we can snag him for a year somehow.

Like Cincinnati? If Luke Fickell graduates to a P5 this year or next, there's 0 doubt Freeman is his replacement.
