I would like to contribute my thoughts on the matter.

Obviously I am of a (slightly) different generation, but I'll never understand the need to post/document even the most mundane of things on social media. Think before you hit send.

Until people have the backbone to stand up to the woke mob, ridiculous shite like this is going to get worse and worse. Should she have posted it? In hindsight, no. But, AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY LOST IN OUR SOCIETY, context matters. She didn't post it with any malice. Just a young girl making a dumb mistake. I made PLENTY of those when I was young. You did too!!

This loser, Jimmy, and his ilk don't really care about "social justice" AT ALL. They only care about exerting power over the "cool kids" because they are self-loathing losers and misfits. 30 years ago he does something like this, he gets his arse kicked and stuffed in the locker. He learns a lesson and moves on. But now, the media has emboldened every dweeb, loser, misfit to exact "revenge" in the name of "moral superiority"

UT could have made a strong statement by saying they recognized the girl made a mistake. But that is what adolescence and college is about. Growing and maturing as a person. We aren't going to deny her the opportunity to grow here at our university because of a youthful mistake. We are going to help foster that growth and hopefully help mold her into a better and stronger person.

But alas, academia is not controlled by "adults". It is controlled by people who never got past being a school child. They just grew up to become the children in charge almost wholly detached from a life outside of academia. One they don't know exists
