They have hit NC and SC hard, too. Small % trickles into GA and AL. They are not the transplants we want. Loud and strange people.

Wonder how many people have left Louisiana from 2010 until now?

According to the census LA added 2.5% since 2010, St Bernard parish the largest growth by percentage

Then the population centers can no longer support their own growth so it starts to kill itself. Plays out in every state mentioned.

People leaving Northern states is definitely a thing, but its not just about Northern cities.

Its actually been shown to be the opposite, people move the suburbs and bring traffic and congestion where the infrastructure can't support it. Cities will always have ups and downs, but right now many first ring suburbs are also struggling.

Lol. Bruh, outside of Chicago and the other major metro areas just like the rest of the country Illinois is red as anywhere.

Chicago metro makes up 9.5 million people. As of 2019, they had lost population 4 years straight. I doubt 2020 breaks that trend.

Cincinnati and Columbus actually aren't doing too poorly in Ohio. All of the exurbs in those two and Dayton are growing just fine.

Chicago dominates Illinois so much that the whole state gets fed up. Ohio has a little more balance because the state often has moderate Republicans to offset the traditional Democrats from the northeastern part of the state. Thus, the whole state doesn't turn into total crap.

I just looked up wiki, and it estimates Ohio has grown 1.3% since 2010.

In 5 years we will see stats about everyone moving back to these cities/states.

It’s all cyclical, but I’m not sure if things will flip in 5 years.

At some point, sunny Florida, Texas, etc will see people leave because of overcrowding and they’ll go back to the plains of the Midwest.

I’d like to see Cleveland settle down a bit. Population has fled that area for decades. Crazy...the 6th City isn’t anywhere close to that.

Toledo also has been in quite a rut.

Nah, it ranked third of all cities in population loss over the past few years. I don't know about this year, but Chicago lost population 4 year straight from 2016-2019.

The city or the metro area? The former matters less than the latter. I mean, it matters if you're trying to educate a kid or run a business within the city limits, but beyond that it doesn't matter much to Greater Chicago.
