I suggest having a heart to heart with her.
I've thought about it, but more times than not she does not get out of line. It's just simple guilt riddled comments...asking what were doing tomorrow when she knows damn well what we do every year. A comment here about how long it's been since she's seen her girl on Christmas day, a comment about what some other members are doing on Christmas day (bigger stuff), slighlty under her breath saying how nice it would be to see us on Christmas day etc. I don't care..I shake it off, but it can rattle my wife sometimes. My parents are divorced so I had to start going through this as soon as I was old enough to decide were I wanted to be for Christmas and in my experience this kinda crap fades over time as people accept you are going to do what your going to do. If it continues or progresses past this a heart to heart will be had for sure. I think there is just a big part of me who can't believe that's needed. You get literally every single holiday while my family gets absolute none, and you have the audacity to ask for more??? She is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, I love her like she's my mother, even call her mama, but she has the social awareness of a labradoodle and it's very hard for me to get past at times.

After awhile of really thinking about it my wife has come to realize how dumb a co-ed baby shower is and says she just wants me there at the end of the gifts and loading up, which I'm all for!
Sadly she is dead set on a gender reveal at least she has stated she doesn't want to do any of the trashy over the top shite her redneck side of the family has pulled

I just don’t want them all at my house on Friday and then right back on Sunday. For one thing, since we are going to my family’s on Saturday there will be no time to get the house ready for guest again after Christmas and before Sunday. Which means, of course, my wife will be running around at midnight on Saturday like a chicken with her head cut off trying to get things ready for Sunday.
I so get this. And if family can't make it one night, oh well, they don't make it. My own son and his fiance won't be with us at my parents on Christmas Eve but will be with my husbands family with us on Christmas Day.
It is what it is.
And screw cooking 3 days in a row ... that's too much for a single person.

trust me...I'm not thrilled, but it's something she really wants....for whatever fricking reason. My only request is to not be as trashy as her redneck cousins (one did a burnout over blue powder, and one shot a rifle at a bucket full of explosives with blue powder).

You were big ball bragging about your hills to die on and now you going along with gender reveal party. You trolling now.

A Christmas day that's for my family and free from bullshite pressure from inlaws...that's a hill I'll die on.
My wife wants to cut into a pink or blue cake to figure out our kids gender....it's dumb, but if it makes her happy I don't see the harm

I'm petty, if they want me to cook 3 meals in a day, then that's fine.
That 3rd day y'all are getting chicken nuggets and Kraft Mac and cheese

quote:I pointed it out to my wife, that no straight man wants to go to a baby shower. Any man that does show up, does not want to be there, so why invite people that you know doesn't want to go, and if they do, it's out of guilt? Same can be said about gender reveals. That is some serious ,stupid shite.

All this! At least with gender reveals the stupidity lasts 5 mins snd is done. The first/last coed baby shower I got dragged to was non-stop getting pestered...different baby game every 5 minutes and got asked to participate each time. Couldn't even let a man sit and be miserable in peace

You must have the nicest trailer in the family. Is it skirted or something?
Why are you such an arrogant dick?
I'm sorry that you can't afford to skirt your trailer, but if it makes you feel better to take it out on me, be my guest.
Merry Christmas.
